Leather Seat Care

Postby michaelfinger » Sun Mar 16, 2014 8:52 pm

Hello,

What do you guys use for leather conditioning? My car is an MY07 B-Spec and the front seats have gone a little harder than in the rear. I'm not sure if any of the seats have ever been treated. I visited my local Autobarn and there is a confusingly large range of product.

What have you guys used in the past? What can you recommend?

Thanks in advance,

Michael.

Zaino Z9 / Lexol for cleaning.

If not too bad spray and wipe. If really bad then use a very soft bristle brush to agitate the chemical and get into the grain of the leather

Zaino Z10 / Swissvax / Polish Angel / Duragloss for conditioning

Thanks Hamish, Zanio looks well priced... and an online shop. Have you had experience with all of these? If so, what's your choice out of them?

Zaino/lexol/duragloss very similar in terms of cleaners

Zaino Z10 and duragloss is a low sheen look. Zaino smells amazing duragloss not so much

Swissvax doesn't smell as nice but has a good matte finish

I know this is an old thread, but +1 for Lexol :D

I have both the cleaner and conditioner, which I bought for my old Mercedes years ago. Leaves the leather a nice natural clean matte finish, not all horrible and shiny (so not for anyone who wants that).

Can't go wrong with duragloss

Just make sure it's real leather as 90%of cars are just fake leather

Did Subaru use real leather in the Gen IV "leather" equipped vehicles - or is some sort of modified product?

I'm pretty sure the Gen 4s are real leather for most sections (seat uppers, steering wheel and shift knob - in the case of the GTSpecB anyway). The handbrake cover feels fake, and iirc the owners manual mentions that some Seat sections are not real leather (the back of the seats - towards the rear seat passengers I believe, and probably the lower seat-base sides). But the seat uppers definitely are real.

My handbrake cover and centre console cover is real leather - from redlinegoods - makes a bigger difference than I thought it would. So much so that I bought a steering wheel recover set as well. (haven't used it yet though).

Good thing I searched before starting a new thread :P.

I have a 5GEN Lib with leather interior, grabbed one of these
http://www.oakwoodproducts.com/products ... tion-pack/

First time leather interior person so am a bit noob. The cleaner worked fine, the hydrating cream made the leather softer but I'm not sure if it's "better".
I'll leave it for a few more weeks and hopefully it returns to normal. It has lost some firmness and seems a bit "wrinkly". I only did the driver's seat so I can compare to passenger seat. Also there are some white (I think it's the cream) on the perforated sections, I'll hit it with the cleaner again to see if I can get rid of it.

I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!
