I have a windscreen that needs a good polish to pass a roadworthy so I'd like to attempt the job myself.

Any advise on where to buy these items from a bricks n mortar shoppe?

$25 and 2.5 hours max DIY is more my scene.

I need an RWC, not assurances that my car could explode due to minor abrasion of shield glass.

You can always try carpro ceriglass that waxit down in tullamarine sells. I believe it contains cerium oxide

So Abrasiflexin Mulgrave has 3M Trizact.

The idea is to get a few grades of Trizact grit for polishing out minor scratches, then finish the screen either with cerium oxide polish or paste, or the 3M cerium oxide polishing pads for DAS.

Why go to all this trouble?
Apart from needing to do a few car windshields right now, I have an acrylic product table at work that requires constant upkeep.
Until I researched glass polishing I had no idea how to maintain the acrylic.
Its the same process, just somewhat less aggressive on the softer acrylic.

Put I a new after market windscreen not very expen.

Old stickers on existing screen can be tranfered

Agreed, I'm giving the DIY option a try first.

The trizact disks are $6 each, the cerium oxide polishing discs are $10 each.

How did you go? If it worked, could you provide a run down of the method?

I got the stuff and gave it a go, I'm happy to admit it was well beyond my capabilities, patience and equipment.
I did get the trizact to cut through the polished layer of the windscreen.
Its expensive so I only bought 5 pads, which wasnt enough material. Think 20 pads.
I put some spiral scratches on the windscreen too, probably from using the wrong size pads on my DAS at the wrong speed.
So using the correct diameter polishing pad and having some felt polishing pads on hand would be advisable.
The powdered cerium oxide was probably the wrong kind, for tumbling not machine polishing as the consistency was uneven.
It makes an absolute mess so you need an area you can make very messy (I did not) and a ton of well placed and attached drop sheets to keep it off the duco (luckily I did).

So in the end, as I was advised by everyone, a new windscreen was a no brainer.

I would be more confident polishing light scratches, but chips from a screen are probably impossible.
Had I more time I could have persisted but the materials alone would have approached the screen replacement cost!
I would have had as good an experience buying a screen and learning to fit it myself. That's on the cards for next time
