Steam clean or Gerni obviously not near electrical etc

Any methods people use would be appreciated as I'm sure degreaser whitens plastics etc

remove any plastics on the motor,
degrease the crap out of everything metal
run the engine
use a steam cleaner to hose it all off (removed plastics included)
keep engine running until it's all dry.
replace plastics and go to town with your favourite plastic coating

Be careful with Degreasers. The caustic water based type destroys the appearance of some metals, especially alloys.

Harsh degreaser stains alloy if left on for a period of time which is not very long at all!

I suggest the engine cleaner at car lovers car wash.

Maybe light degreaser like 1km from the car wash. Quickly drive to bay, pop bonnet gernie, use engine cleaner and gernie and done.
