Steam clean

Postby monkeyboy17 » Sun Aug 26, 2012 2:21 pm

I just bought an old '92' GX Liberty and the previous owner's were smokers which is a shame but not the end of the world. I'm trying to find a decent detailer in Sydney that will steam clean my seats, carpet and boot for a good price. Anyone know of any?

Nicotine stains all through it and it reaks!! Body slime and nicotine... mmmm yummy

I researched a few years ago how to remove the smell of cigarettes in cars

Leave an open container of ground up coffee in over night, its supposed to get rid of the smell

I personally havent tried it, but its worth a shot.

As for sydney detailers, there are a few members on here who have used "Moonlight Detailing" with nothing but great words!

No worries, thanks.
Looked up moonlighting and I'd be a bit embarrassed to take my old rough Subi in there haha.
They do very shmick BMW's and Mercs.

Your money is as good to them as any BMW or Merc owner's money :P

Anyone tried steam cleaning themselves? There's a car wash near me with one that I'm tempted to attack my P.O.S. laser with...

I looked in to it myself also, I found out you can hire one from Bunnings for less.

I'd rather just do it myself.

Superior Shine or Reflect effect.

Also would be good to replace the air con filter and spray some neutraliser in the roof lining as most of the smoke smell gets stuck in that.

Gen1 Libertys don't have pollen filters. I've always found that with ex smoker cars one thing that can help is pull the centre console out, or any trim that is easily removed/refitted and vacuum behind/underneath etc as alot of ash builds up which helps hold the smell too. As well as all of the aforementioned obviously.
Built not bought, it's a way of life.

Feel free to drop us a line - would be more than happy to help you out.

There are a couple of products on the consumer market that will help. I've had a vW R36 wagon that had kid's vomit left in the back footwells. We weren't able to steam clean, however the smell was removed and all cleaned up.

Smoking is much different, given. The long-term smell that seeps into vents, velour/trims and fabric seats is nasty.

Anyway, if you'd like some suggestions feel free to drop me a line - moonlightdetailing@gmail.com

Cheers
