You ought to use some clay on it and some paint cleaner. The end-result will have you amazed. Don't bother with hand applied polishes. Just wax it after.

Yeah I have bought a clay bar and am planning on using it when I can spend the day on claying, polishing and waxing the car in the one day. Never done it before so will report back on how I go.

My advice is, don't bother with using spray detailer when claying; use a better grade shampoo and simply dilute it with water in a spray dispenser and you'll save a few dollars this way every time you need to remove contaminants.

Could someone please outline in the picture below what i should be covering when i detail the engine bay?
Have bought some Autoglym cleaner to make the bay pop a little more now its starting to look a little more interesting
Just worried about frying electrics/pushing water in the engine.

Yes i know there is always water in the engine bay when raining, i would just rather be extra safe when directly spraying.

I only ever wipe my engine and parts with a wet cloth.....dont like hosing near electrics, water in the wrong area.......corrosions etc.

Then again I may just be paranoid!

Bought some Art Deshine products, will post how they go, the nano sealant after waxing does a nice finish. Only test done so far.

Blast it with air, then use CarPro Tar X to remove any unwanted grease, then hose the engine with mild pressure. Just avoid spraying water directly into the intake. If you have a steamer, you can use that in conjunction with some more Tar X to then attack the areas where the grease concentration is higher. Without having to dry the engine bay, dilute to your desired gloss level some CarPro PERL and spray all plastic and rubber components, then buff the excess.

I am also one to worry about spraying water directly into the wrong area eg. Alternator or relays etc.
I have watched many videos of people degreasing engine bays but so far havent attempted this myself not even with my DIESEL HILUX

At work we degrease and high pressure wash all engine bays, no matter the car (except hybrids for various reasons). Ive done it to mine a few times as well

Its funny in my head I know its fine to degrease and pressure wash but to watch for certain areas like alternator
But I am still hesitant on actually doing it. I just finished flushing my coolant and have a bit of overdrip of the coolant as it leaves a white stain not permanent I know

Guess just spray the new cleaner on those parts I am certain can take it.
Agitate a little with a brush in the little gaps and rinse.
I'll only use a light shower of water to rinse and steer clear of alternator and noticeable electrical components I guess.

Fingers crossed she comes up alright :s

Only reason I'm doing a full clean with water is I don't think it's ever been done to be honest!
After this major wash, will definitly maintain with just a weekly wipe down

The worst thing you can do IMO is rip the hood lining/firewall lining when pressure washing engine bays, no need to worry so much

So my Liberty has just turned 1, bought some Aerospace 303 a couple of weeks back and finally found time to properly clean my interior after a couple of months and actually apply it.

I have previously kept the inside pretty tidy simply with vacuuming, and wiping down vinyl/plastic surfaces with a weak water/armour-all mix and wipe down with a micro-fibre towel (never game to use straight armour-all again after previous experience with greasy plastics and grotty windows after hot days)

But the plastics were looking a little "dry" and going on recommendations here I got some 303.

Well holy sh*t this stuff is good!

I'm not that easily impressed but the plastics and vinyl have taken on what I can only describe as a "wet look" with a deep rich appearance, glossier but not super shiny - quite new looking in a natural way.

But best of all, absolutely NO greasy/oily surface as you get with straight armour-all.

Application was simple, spraying onto a damp wrung out sponge, wiping all surfaces a section at a time, then wiping dry with a micro fibre cloth. I could easily see where I'd been and everything, even gloss surfaces like the mock CF inserts or the instrument window were clean, clear and totally fresh with no smear on the surface. The satnav touchscreen looked spotless and seems more finger print resistant as a bonus.

No i'm not selling the stuff, but it works really well - just remember to apply as directed, wipe on, dry off.

This is by far the best topic i have read on this forum in some time, I agree with those the said Rainx anti fog is shit, i have used it on my previous car and it did nothing. Now i have a little bit of info, Big W have a 1KG bag of microfiber clothes for around $10 i think, there only sort of "offcut" pieces but each bag has different pieces in it with all different sized clothes, i have bought a bag and will be enough for about the next 10 years XD happy detailing .
