ECUTracker - FREE real time ECU data display for mobiles

Postby coyote » Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:30 pm

I'm thinking about having a crack at getting this working on my Nexus One.

Thought others might be interested.

Strange, I would have thought the rust would be easy to spot by now.

They must have improved.

Looks like this is what we gotta get to support the software:

http://www.obdkey.com/obd_orders.asp

$150AUD delivered isn't too bad for the Bluetooth version, but the Wifi version at just over $300 is pretty steep.... I'd rather pay another $200 and get the ECUdatascan.

Thanks for posting it up Tony I was beginning to think there weren't any cheaper options than the ECUDS.

No time mate. Besides, I'll wait for the native Android version.

Will also be trying using the wlan interface, as I want to keep the bluetooth connection for phone calls.

But I will do it.

It would if Apple allowed iPhones to run Java.

But they don't.

Just ordered the OBDkey, gonna run this on a Nokia N97. Perfect solution I don't have to worry about leaving an ECUdatascan on the windscreen all the time.

+1, Android for the win!!

Have been playing with a test mule Samsung Galaxy S. The WLAN is great, we tethered 3 lappies via wi-fi to the Galaxy config'd as a router and all shared an open 3G connection into the work VPN

You can use that Rev app for iPhone for the same purpose.

I have tried running the Java version on Android 2.1, using J2ME Runner.

The program loads, but the interface looks a little messed up. Also it does not connect to the ECUTracker website to download custom profiles. Also, it does not connect to the Bluetooth dongle (OBDKey).

Basically it looks like we're gonna have to wait for the proper Android port which is not that far away:

http://www.rs25.com/forums/f72/t126475- ... splay.html (Skidd is the guy who wrote the program).

I have tried using another program called Torque, but it does not appear to support SSM. So the data is not only limited to a smaller set of parameters, but the update speed is not that fast.

Tony I just tried again this morning and you'd be interested to know that I am able to stay paired with my bluetooth car kit *and* connect to the OBDKey via bluetooth at the same time. May save you the cost of buying the much more expensive Wifi OBDKey. (Samsung Galaxy S)
