Yep they've certainly gone up by like $30 US. At this price you are probably better off buying direct from Tactrix.

All you guys with the later cars need is the openport 2 cable

Anyone in Sydney mind loaning / renting their cable?

Wanna get a tune by west_minist, but $200+ for a cable is gonna hurt! Cheers, Nic.

Tactrix Cables

+1 that's the only thing holding me back at the moment. Happy to pay for using it, even if I left a deposit of the purchased price.

Seriously guys, how much is your car worth ? how much have you spent on non performance related gear ? I would bet that its a lot more than $200. I don't mean it in a nasty way but sometimes you have to get these things in perspective. I think its a bargain for what you will get in the end
$200 for something with on board logging and you could easily sell it for say worst case $100 so it cost you $100. I'll buy it off you for $120 there you go :)

Good point, however I can't see myself using the cable after the tuning

Mark, why on 1 hand you say to get these things in perspective & then in the next sentence it's clear that you're not willing to pay full price yourself

I feel most people would want to minimise their costs, regardless of "what you will get in the end".

I think more correctly Mark is saying he is happy to pay full price (and already probably has for the one he owns) but is making a point if someone was to sell it for $120 he'd snap it up as it would be a good deal.

I agree with Mark - my car is already tuned and I am thinking of buying one purely for Learning View functionality and fiddling

I also have an ECUdatascan, which is used daily, but the Tactrix gives that much more post processing power

I have a few of them actually..... thats all but I would buy one as a spare for when I run over it. This is probably the cheapest bit of gear I have and also the best value

So, in summary I would want a tactrix 2.0 for my 05 GT?

Basically you setup a configuration file on your laptop then copy this across to the Openport's onboard micro SD card. This then tells the Openport what parameters to log. The logged data is stored on the card in .CSV file which you then analyse via the usual methods.

Apparently I only need a 1.3 U for my '05 3.0 A/T Outback, but apart from the above, is there any reason to pay the extra for a 2.0 cable? Will it allow extra/later definitions or future proof it in any way?
Also, the cheap VAG-COM cable can't actually FLASH a tune, is that correct?

Some of the Vagcom's can be modified to log tunes/load tunes etc but are now rare.

1.3 wo9uld work for you but finding them secondhand is even hard now
