EcuDataScan discussion

Cannot believe how easy this was to get working and a great insight to the workings of a modern engine!

Just a question on the movies and music files, do they need to have an .mp3 or .mp4 extension for the files to be recognised? I had a few loaded in the root directory of the SD Card, but no file list when I selected Movies or Music from the Main Menu. What file extensions are required?

Kind Regards,

Mark.

I haven't tried MP3 files yet, but it played some MP4 movies just fine.

These were a couple I'd already reduced down to 320x240 resolution to play on my phone. See if this one works...

(This is actually 320x176, because it came from widescreen TV)

Initial impressions after installing this past weekend.

Boy there is a ton of information easily assessable to me now.

Intake temps fluctuate considerably even on cool days. Heat is not your friend if you want to make power in a tmic Liberty.

My defi gauges read exactly as my gauges on the ecudatascan.

Peak boost is 18.27 psi

No knock indications at all.

All parameters are being measured now and max / min alarms have been set.

iGo8 software is freakin awesome to use. Still playing around with the connectivity thru the fm transmitter to my mac though.

I wish I would have had this thing for the past dyno day and some dry ice.

Thumbs up so far so now for relocation to the cubby hole to replace the defi's which will go up for sale shortly I think.

Thanks Ric,

Do I have to create a Movie directory, or just in the root directory?

Kind Regards,

Mark.

I put some in the root, and some in a folder called "vids". It was able to play them all.

Guys, there's an "updated" 1.0.2.6 firmware for download now. Version number is the same, but a couple of bugfixes have been applied.

Post from Daren (impakt) on the EcuDataScan forums

Hi all,
I made a quick patch to 1.0.2.6, download the latest version on the downloads page. This has a fix for the checksum errors, and you can rescale the history graphs now too. Peak hold also works on duty cycle.

Thanks,
Daren

Cheers

Dwayne

Is it reading your card at all?
Make sure it is an SD card, and NOT an SDHC card.
(Although I assume you're just using the card that came with it.)

Anyone had issues with FM connectivity?

Basically - I can get it BUT there is so much interference it's just not worth it.

See if you can isolate the interference. Try tuning the stereo into a radio station and plug/unplug the OBD-II cable. If it's interfering let me know and I'll send another cable that has even more circuitry to minimise interference.

Ric,

I am using the SD Card that came with the bundle and I tried your .mp4 file this morning. Played ok. I guess it was finger trouble in understanding which icon to tap to access the files. It was not until I tapped the "Eject" button that the file list cam up. I will try the Music files tomorrow.

I also tried to get the movie that was playing to come through the FM Stereo on teh Mac, but no success. Was tuned in to 88.0 MHz on both devices, but only heard the low level interference. I also get the interference on most FM frequencies.

Kind Regards,

Mark.

Impakt - the issue for me is the signal to noise floor of the FM signal FROM the ECUdatascan. If i move the cable interferences change BUT are still there. Much worse in the higher Mhz radio range from the device. Also interference exhibits changes from windscreen wipers indicators etc.

As per radio interference on a "station" I haven't tried BUT will check for you. I just listen to Ipod.

All in all still very happy with the device. Boost gauge with multi colour for off boost, on boost and over boost :D

To be clear.

First Issue

The cable would cause FM interference to radio stations that you are listening to on your radio. Cable positioning seemed to change the interference. As such, new cables were sent to people to resolve the issue (I believe).

Second Issue

When the ECUdatascan TRANSMITS via FM to our stereo their is a high noise floor exhibited by "interference". Cable movement changes the interference slightly. That is my main current issue.

I checked and I also SEEM to have more radio interference issues as per the 1st issue as well as the 2nd issue.
