Knock events

Postby THE SpecB » Sun Sep 27, 2015 8:09 am

As per topic - when do we need to be concerned?

My tuner said that knock events will happen or be shown nearly everytime an LV is done.

Does this sound right? And how do we know if knock events are serious enough to either inform tuner or look elsewhere for a tuner to save engines life!

Knock count logging is not that useful as an indicator of engine health.
Iirc it's because the engine is quite noisy and the ECU does a good job of sorting out the signal.

Best to stick to watching corrections in logging eg FKC and FLKC and you can get a summation of this from Tactrix or BtSsm Learning View.
There's an infographic on LV linked in my Tune FAQ link in my sig.

A perfect LV is not essential either, as there are acceptable ranges of correction, if you need feedback on yours, post in the LV discussion thread or ask your tuner.
