The factory ECU can definitely be retuned.

Stay away from MRT. They charge lots of money for a tune, give you a shit tune, and then they lock your ECU so you can't get someone else to fix the tune in your car.

Yes: but generally you'll require mods to actually support or create the extra power.
Iirc just a tune on a stock car will gain about 10-20 kw atw.
The main benefit will be better response and drivability at this level, even more so if you have an auto...

yes I do have an auto... does the throttle body spacer make a difference and if so where can I buy one the other thing I was looking at was the intake manifold spacer kit n cold air induction with the retune as I was told that the changing the factory exhaust system doesn't make a difference only noise n last but not least upgrading the whole ignition system

For the Gt, the exhaust would be one of the first things to upgrade. Your down pipe is restrictive, 1/2 of it is blocked off.

Also an intercooler upgrade would be worthwhile.

At the same time I'd change the fuel pump and injectors, get an eflex tune from Matt (kidotuning).

its a 2.5 NA EJ253 engine in it H4 SOHC - 165 hp (121 kW) @ 5600/rpm, 167 ft•lbf (226 N•m) torque @ 4400 rpm stockie atm only thing I just put in was a K&N air filter

Modifying your engine would be a gigantic waste of funds. If you want more speed but like Liberty's then buy a H6 or GT.

Ahh, I've got the same engine.

I just went with an eflex tune from kido tuning. Great value.

I dont think much else is worth it. Unless you go with a supercharger kit down the track.

More great advice from MRT...

Gains on an NA engine aren't significant (you won't get much top-end power, but drivability and mid-range will improve), but they are there if you want them.

no offence but MRT are very rude and arrogant and wasn't impressed with the guy I talked to on the phone, he thinks he knows it all but after speaking with KiDo I was very impressed and will be going to use them when the tune guy comes to Sydney

I tuned my 2.5i - well worth it IMO despite being NA. 10% gain in power and torque and much more driveable and fun with the added bonus of more fuel efficiency, and that's with no other engine mods.

Sure, you don't get the big gains that the 3.0 and GT's will get, but it still feels a LOT better than the stock tune.

And yes - stay away from MRT.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

If you are 2008+ 2.5i, yes the ecu can be tuned. Either myself or Kido can do that.
