Some advice changing tune for new actuator...

Hey guys,

I've recently changed my WG actuator to a Turbosmart model... the old actuator was the standard one that comes with the Blouch TD05-18g... I think maybe 10psi crack pressure. I also have a 3 port boost solenoid (already tuned with that).

The new Turbosmart actuator has 14psi crack pressure.

Here's a log file (in Sports mode)... unsurprisingly the new actuator has resulted in consistently higher boost readings than target.

For one reason or another, I'm going to have a go at tuning this myself...

What would I need to be changing to get the boost matching the boost target a bit better? (yes the fact that I'm having to even ask this question means I probably shouldn't be messing about with it myself - but I'm willing to have a go),

Since you have a suspected bottom end issue then I guess you are taking on the risk with full knowledge

But just in case, I should say it is a risky exercise.

In saying that, what you should be looking at are the following tables:

Target boost
Turbo dynamics
Wastegate duty cycle initial
Wastegate duty cycle max
Dbw tables

These all have a bearing on boost curve.

In very very simple terms. the higher your wastegate duty cycle the more you are closing the gate and therefore the more exhaust pressure you're allowing to flow through to the turbine (which means more boost).

I would start by establishing a baseline boost curve with wastegate duty cycle zeroed out, then going from there

Yep, I'll wait until I've had some more in-depth inspections done on the engine (oil pan taken out, oil pressure tested, etc). Then I'll work out whether I want to push a but more life out of my current engine, or replace it...
