Do I need tune?

Postby sdeeth » Wed Jun 10, 2015 7:49 am

Hey guys,
Just a quick question.
Is it recommended to have a retune after installing Hi-flo air filter? (Uni-filter in a Gen5 GT)
Had one in for about 2weeks now, haven't felt any issues so thought I'd ask if it's best to tune or its all good with this minor mod.
Didn't want this to be a stupid question but thought I'd ask anyways.
Thanks.

I don't think so, if you change the inlet pipes or went with a pod filter then yes (can over boost otherwise). But just a replacement panel filter shouldn't require a tune (though I only have gen 4 experience). However a lot of people will recommend a tune to stock libertys (especially autos)

There a post on this forum - running for noobs or something which has a lot of details around what / when to tune

Tune anyway, even if you have no mods at all - everything about the car is improved!
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

You don't really need too. But since you haven't you should look into getting a tune. Aussie gas is not always the best gas and since the car is a little old, it would be good for a tuner/logger to review how she is working.

Below is a sample of what a review could look like:-

From the image you fill see the car pulling quite a bit of timing as she pings in the feedback knock correction. So it is always good to just get her log and see. Based on the results you may not need to tune.
