I think it should be up to the owner,
As long as they are given the warning that its not advised to tune their engine while it's in a poor condition .

If anyone wanted to proceed after a warning then they should be prepared to pay for any damage that occurs.

You can't hold a tuner responsible for the poor judgement of a customer. If someone is aware that their car had an issue they should go and take care of that before getting a tune.

I don't always think the customer has the knowledge/facts to make that decision correctly, they might not be aware of the risks and money involved to fix the engine if it had blow up, they might not know anything mechanically at all. then you have that issue with customers blaming the tuner and plastering crap on forums

Having worked around customers* in the entertainment industry for the last 10 years, I can say with confidence that he/she is never right.

I don't think this is fair on him as he charges $400 for a tune, and that's all he'll do. Frankly that's all some of his customers want. He doesn't charge $120 an hour on top to diagnose and repair your car.

I experienced this first hand when I was running the dyno for him. The first car I ran had no cam movement on one side and was running like poo. We stopped and informed the owner, and the response was basically "I don't care I want 180kw". So off we went, tuned it to 180kw as safely as we could. Now, no doubt if this car went bang a week later it would be "Matt blew up this car and Revzone didn't do anything about it".

Can you see how frustrating this can be?

in that situation imo the tuner should just say no and not tune the car till its fixed

I scaled in the MAF since the LH exhaust cam wont affect AFR's drastically on boost. Experience of knowing how the car 'should' be Vs how it is now... considering the car also had the CEL Flash on knock detection and the owner is aware of what the CEL flash means/does, not having any phone calls or emails/texts etc means that the fixed cam gear has the car back on track.

Exactly... See me posting these requests I have gotten and who retuned them?

That includes EVERY tuner... when things go bang, a lot of people want to go back to stock to try their luck with Subaru(which for future reference is not the service I offer)

Now, as we know I have the insurance option available(which you may have missed, but it is on OzFoz and up here)
