Cairns - Tuning 05' GT 2.0

Postby thiele » Fri Mar 21, 2014 10:44 am

Hey all,

Just wanted to see everyone's thoughts.

Been wanting to get my GT tuned pretty much since I got it and I discovered that the drive by wire + manual is a frustrating experience.

I just rang SVS cairns who have an awd dyno and do ecutek tunes.

I plan on getting a Cobb cold air intake and shield before getting this tune done.

Anyway, was quoted $1950 on special for the tune alone.

Not sure if there is any other places that do awd tuning in Cairns, so I think that my options are limited.

Don't do it. A good stock tune can be had between $350-1000. $220 for a tactrix cable, $120ish for an email tune from Eric at Torqued Performance, in terms of value this one is the best. Then $400 tune from kido racing. Or drive to brissy and get the member Coyote to give you a real dyno tune.

A cai won't do much for your car at your power.

Check out the 2.5T specific thread for some 1st mods advice and tuning advice. The same basic advice applies to the 2.0.

Email tunes are done on the street while you drive, just hook up your laptop and download the free software off RomRaider.com. Read their walk through threads on how to. Basically you take logs of your engine parameters while you drive, email file to tuner and he sends you a new tune based on those. Repeat a few times and your car is ready :)

End result is a better drive, economy, and more power than majority of local tuners....kind of sad for the money they charge :D

I'll be in FNQ on holidays in a few weeks. If you can arrange a dyno, I'd be happy to tune the car for you.
