I agree that short shifting at or just past 6000RPM in a 2.5T with a smaller turbo makes sense for acceleration times, however Matt is suggesting short shifting at 4000RPM which is diesel territory... :shock:

Keeping in mind that this was a Sport Vs S# run, S# can now put more power to the ground since we found the software limiting torque issue from 2100rpm to 4000rpm

Yes, the most amount of torque applied during a 0-100kph run

Dat torque...

So would you change out of 1st gear at 6000rpm or 4000rpm if it meant halving engine rpm on the gear ratios, while having to endure 2000rpm low torque before the gear change?

id let my bum decide if I rev it harder or not lol!! like driving a truck or diesel 4x4 you soon learn what works best!

if youre racing at the lights being silly you might not want to change gears at all but faster to rev the car out in 1st till you get to 60 ;)

I'm missing something here - does the auto have a lot less power than the manual at the treads??

Also, why is there so much less low down torque (under 2500RPM) in S# vs S?

Autos sap a huge amount of power compared to manuals. Eg auto S-Edition Foz with stock tune is 193kW at the fly but puts down 130-135. 09-13 WRX manual is 195kW at the fly but will put down 150-160.

I suspect that torque spike may also be a result of auto gearbox. A spike as it's "stalling up" or "slipping" is normal for auto Dyno torque graphs.

What are the mods on that car Matt? A graph without a list of parts is a little hard to compare.

As it says on the dyno sheet... rear mufflers only back then. Stock dump pipe + Stock Centre + Stock Y + Mufflers

New exhaust and airfilter went on late last year :)

Because Sport has less boost requested on Requested Torque and that shows in the boost graph.

No slip Sean, the issue was Requested Torque was capped in a Per Gear Requested Torque Table

Add to AE5F301C:
<table name="Per Gear Requested Torque Limit" address="dc9c8" type="2D" level="1" scaling="rawecuvalue">
<table name="X" address="dc9b0" type="Y Axis" elements="6" scaling="rawecuvalue"/>
</table>
You will see it is capped. No more cap and suddenly it makes a LOT more torque as the guys on here know ;)
