CEL - P0607 Control Module Performance

Postby zch91 » Tue Feb 12, 2013 9:09 am

Any thoughts/ideas?

Symptoms are- Car goes into limp mode with cel/cruise flash just after starting & driving for less than 10 seconds.

Turn car off for 1min and restart - all is well for another few weeks.

Are you able to view the freeze frame data to see what was going on when the code was logged?

I don't have a tactrix cable so I'm unable to do anything more than read the code :(

I have had my car tuned by KiDo and after speaking to Matt, apparently it is a gremlin (that's what I call it) and the code just needs to be turned off..

It does not get any easier. Car is really shitting itself now. Stalling, very low idle- nearly stalling, surging while cruising, plus going into limp mode + cel on low throttle.

Supposed to be doing a 3,500km road trip on Friday. Quietly shitting my pants.

All input is appreciated.

Hey Zach,
i had this CEL also when I first got my car tuned by Matt.
It would mostly occur when I would leaving my place which is on a hill, so it would stall under load and go into limp mode.
Initially Matt disabled the code but it would still go into limp mode only difference is that the engine light does not pop up.
Matt had to change the DBW setting back to stock, apparently his settings were too aggressive and for some reason our model (pre-fl) didn't seem to like it.
Since his changed the DBW setting I have not had any CELs.

Hopefully this helps you rectify the problem because I know how frustrating it was.

Cheers,
Tony

Seems it's all in the tune.

Hate to say it, changing table scalars willy nilly with related referenced tables not being understood would trigger this behaviour.

Hope you can wear the cost of some of these experiments.

Hmm, thanks for the input guys. I had the tune done probably 8 months ago, in that period it would throw a cel maybe every 4 weeks on average, but has been getting progressively worse over the past few days.

I have been informed the avcs filters can cause issues similar- and checking on obvious things like throttle body leaks..

Will see how I go.

The tune was done in person so I do not have a tactrix to reload the stock tune.

Thanks guys

I've had this happen three or four times too

Hasn't happened since latest revision which I believe Matt sorted out the gremlin with....

Go back to Matt and tell him you need it sorted ASAP

Good to hear Mick. I have been in close contact with Matt - the problem seems to intermittent it's hard to pinpoint.

I will definitely be getting the tune revised when I can get my hands on a tactrix.

Matt likes to "inform" you of possible external causes when the fact is, its the tune thats the cause.

You should really invest in a Tacrix cable bud. I'd hate to say it, but if u broke down somewhere, it could cost u more to get towed home.
