Need an expert to chime in but see the op for my current xp config inc devices, versions and Java.
Last time I couldn't flash it was Java requiring updating and cleaning out all versions apart from those in the screenshot.
Also use a chunky usb cable, eg with an extra y plug for power...

Got any additions?
I've been wanting to add to the list of common problems, diagnoses and fixes.
O2 sensors for eg. :)

Awesome post thanks heaps Ben! Great links too, will be back numerous times no doubt.
I am about to do my first UEC and had a question about the to Seafoam thread you linked. Do you guys actually pour some directly into the oil as it advises, as well as the fuel tank? I was just going to do the UEC only and put one can of the subaru UEC sprayed into the BOV inlet that was marked by a yellow circle in a forum photo. Should I be considering putting some product directly in the oil or fuel tank as well, or stick to UEC only? (I have been using a bottle of the suby injector cleaner every 6k in between services). Thanks again hope I haven't detracted from your thread cheers! :)

I've only ever used the seafoam into the bov vaccuum line. I usually do half a can then crank the engine over until it fires, then turn off and leave it for 15 mins. Then i start the car and add the rest while someone keeps the revs up just enough so it doesnt stall. Then put the vac hose back on and drive to burn out all the gunk...

I do put the recommended amount in the engine oil around 100klm before an oil change.
Drop it whilst it's hot, it absolutely stinks! A fumoto valve helps here...

I do a bottle of Subaru fuel additive in a full tank the week before.

I may do a full flush with nylon, kero or atf etc, prior to my forthcoming major service, that's either idling for 10 minutes or a quick thrash around the block. I'll research the various methods prior.
