G'day,
I was just asked the question "can the air pumps aids be turned off on an 08 wrx"....
So, coyote, Kido_tuning at al, can you?

Good question!
But if it was that simple I guess people wouldn't be using plates to block it off? I would love to hear otherwise.

Turn off codes in Ecuflash, put an engine block welsh plug in the hose out of the air pump to make it 'look' like it works for EPA etc. Problem fixed ;)

They regulate the oxygen on start-up basically, so that your emissions are low. I had mine completely removed and the codes fixed up so I wouldn't get any CELs. When I was running P98, I would get a massive waft of brown smoke when I started my car and it would stink of fumes, basically the airpump was preventing that from happening before.

Now that I'm on E-flex it just smells like food when I start my car and no wafts of brown smoke or black marks on the ground from the exhaust :lol:
