In the process I saw the metal plate protecting my ECU and could it it resist taking it off to check whether I was on the holy grail of tuning; I was stoked to see the word 'Denso' printed on my ECU :D

Congrats!

you could also just look at your MAF sensor and see what it says there.

To confirm this - I have an MY05 Outback 2.5i. I have a Hitachi-stamped throttle body, a Hitachi-branded MAP sensor plugged into the throttle body, had a Hitachi front O2 (AFR) sensor, and have a Hitachi ECU.

I *do* have an EZ30R (long) engine around, I wonder if I could grab a Denso ECU for it and wedge it into my pre-FL Outback... :)

You can safely say if you are a 2007+ model, you have a Denso.

One can always make that quick check by pulling the carpet back on the passenger side footwell, remove the panel cover and see.

But if a bump, but I am going through this now, and Matt has been an awesome help.

I was told be an extremely “reputable” Subaru shop in Perth that my car is an hitachi ecu and it was not worth touching etc sell it.

Last night I cracked my footwell open and found a plastic Denso ecu. Am I in the clear here to get this to tune? I have been on the googles for the last couple of weeks, and I should have really checked first.

You guys are pretty in the ball with this so I hope someone will be able to give me an answer, I am too hoping Kido can help.

That's definitely a Denso. If you have access to a Tactrix cable, you can backup your ECU ROM right now.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

Would that be the tactrix open port 2.0 ?

Hey Rexhunta, what ever your ecu is I'm pretty certain Project Lambda Tuning will suit it.

Yea, bought it years ago, worked really well ever since. Only downside is not having more people using it. I'm not sure how different it is to romraider or other programs so no idea how it would go at a tuning workshop.
