Postby jacks-GTB » Tue Sep 18, 2012 8:25 pm

Hey Guys,

I thought I'd let you know, for all those with the backfire/popping from the exhaust (which is annoying).. Michael at MSR has now resolved this issue. 8) 8)

It's a common problem that we get with liberty's .... Even in the US - www.legacygt.com

Interesting thread.......

Could you possibly detail what the issue is to help others with the same issue?

For anyone who has one of my tunes it's a free upgrade, anyone who doesn't email me.

No free upgrades for those with someone else tunes.

Not going to give the details away as you can see it's a world wide issue, if you tuner isn't smart enough to work out the issue maybe you need a new tuner :D
Cheers
Michael

Mainly a manual issue but you can induce it on an auto if you like the noise ;) trh82 on rexnet wants the noise back on his auto lol

Rather simple fix actually, some people like the over run on gear change(because racecar?) and dont mention it during the tune that they want it removed not knowing it can be eliminated. Few US and Scottish guys know I fixed it during the whole DBW fix phase I went through a few months ago with them, the guys at high altitude and high temps wanted the over run simply as above... 'poor mans antilag'

Matt
It's all just emissions related junk isn't it
don;t fully cut the fuel on overrun. (costing you excess fuel consumption)

pretty sure my 3.0 does it a little, but i put it down to the centre exhaust pipe mods

Good old NOx reduction though good for the greenies on a stock car, does not sit well with the PoPo

Life Beyond 20psi on rexnet hated it as well, retuned it a few months ago, fixed the backfire and it even idles perfectly at 700rpm now(plus he got the TC light on for the first time ever and it was with 3 blokes in the car haha!!)
His mate Dave had an Auto MY11 STi with a TD05 I was retuning so Marcel was keen to see what improvements could be made based on Dave's results!

Does this fix rob power in anyway?

I'd be interested in getting this done to my car Matt on your next trip down only if it doesn't rob much or any power.

No power robbing, just gear shifts 'change' a little
