Thought I'd add my BTSSM data to the pile - I haven't reset the ECU in more than 3 years, and there's clearly some underlying issues, but you wouldn't know it based on how it drives!

Ok your IAM is lower than where it should be.

Based on what I’m seeing I’d say you have inlet, boost and crankcase leaks.

You’re welcome to borrow or come use my inlet pressure test kit.

Line up a throttlebody hose, a spare or upgrade inlet pipe, and we can turn it around in a day or so.

That was my thought as well - based on what you've written in your health checklist and the fact that my car's pushing 250,000km, I'd be shocked if there weren't cracked plastic pipes in there. I've lined up the TB elbow, main inlet pipe and MAF elbow from Jackson and have some new hose clamps to install in the next couple of days, but I reset the ECU after work last night and went for a 40km+ drive while varying the conditions as much as possible.

After spending some time at .500, IAM then hit 1.000 and has stayed there since. Whilst 40km is obviously not a lot of time for the ECU to do its thing, if vacuum / boost leaks were the cause of self-protect mode tripping on the ECU, I'd have thought it would have already happened...

I may take you up on that offer to borrow your flaming oily rag in the next few days benny, depending on what part of the state you're in haha. Though I won't be expecting the Kobe parts overnight...

I’m in Collingwood!
Now the LV suggests a pcv/crankcase leak, easy to test :)

On a stock tune, IAM indeed starts at 0.5 after an ecu reset :good:

With the new inlet pipe, I’d recommend a tune, eg from Sean Regan aka MadmanSean aka sick chips...

I’m saving up for a retune myself... PM’d you too.

Hey guys,
I just got BTSSM working with a VAG-COM connector and was curious to see what the learned values were, they look quite strange to me compared to ones posted in this thread so I decided to give the ECU a reset since I don't think its been done at all if not in a while. After the reset the Fuel Correction looked a bit better but the timing still looks very odd in the table.

Any advice or insight would be great! :D

Looks odd to me. Is your ECU supported? I suggest contacting BTSSM https://www.btssm.com/?page=contact and give them your ECU ID (D2WD603H ) and let them know what you are seeing.

The point of doing an ecu reset is to log most of the relearn process.

This may take at least 30 minutes to a week or so.

Your LV post reset is still trending towards the data in the previous one.

Disregard the jumbled up data points in the fine learning table: its a Btssm bug.
Generally you’d go by the colour of that data point than the actual number.

Your LV suggests the car is not happy with the state of tune, IAM has dropped from 1.00 due to learning around repeated knock, your long term fuel trims suggest an idle leak or exhaust leak etc.

Your bank1 & 2 afr’s are different suggesting an avcs, injector seat or intake manifold gasket to head air leak or an exhaust leak mainly on one bank of headers, a blocked cat issue maybe or failing front a/f sensor.

So start with making a log using eg XRT h6 tuning parameters.
And perform basic health checks to get to what might be multiple small issues.

I did replace both A/F sensors the other day because of it starting to idle weird and it seemed to fix the issues. I think the learned values for AFR's have improved but I'm still monitoring it.

Regarding the rest, I do know this motor has a compression leak into the cooling system so it could explain the other stuff. Thanks for the advice, I'm trying to start learning about tunes and the technical aspects of how cars run so reading your advice was really informative :D

So I can't get my LV working correctly as it seems I have the wrong definitions in my folder. I have updated to the last romraider definitions I could find.

My cal won't come up ? but this is what the bottom corner of the romraider screen is coming up with:

Image

If anyone would be able to steer me in the correct direction would be extremely greatful. been plugging away at this for the last few nights. I believe I have found the manual version of this file for both romraider and ecuflash.

It's an '08 Aus BL9 2.5i 4AET.

Thanks
Pete.

Lol!
You have Romraider installed & working?
I can’t quite remember if the two programs are mutually exclusive or not.
Does the laptop see the obdii device/has drivers?

Pics of the order of devices, control panels etc are in my tune faq.

Ok I checked the pic, on xp, learning view v1.1 RC3 works and is stable.

In system, device manager, the obdii interface is recognised as a vehicle pass through device, com port 10...

For the rest I’d have to reread LV app install instructions.

Yes, RomRaider is installed and working, I can view all my cars outputs and can log from the front screen with all the gauges etc

I am trying to use the Romraiders Learning View ? Or Should I just get the standalone program ? Laptop is Win 10 Pro 64 bit and it's I think the Rev H Tactrix.

Thanks
