Loaded in my latest E85 revision from Matt. Still on stock pump tune probably for one more tank yet, but car is driving so smoothly now, it's fantastic. Next stop pump and power!

You need Learning View v1.00 RC3. You can find it here

Thanks mate. When I searched it just kept coming up with 0.6a. That page was probably cached and Google was doing it's path of least resistance thing.

Got the right version of Learning View up and running and grabbed a snapshot.

This is a stock tune on a 08 (MY09 in AUS) JDM GT Spec B and to me it doesn't look to crash hot at low loads. Is pulling timing through the rev range when on boost (2700-7500). Could this be the result of a boost leak? There's no mention of any engine troubles in the cars history. This is the first time I've read it and have now done a reset. I'll see how things look in a week after driving around a bit.

You should really not reset the ecu after discovering knock. Unless you have found and fixed the problem.

The engine will now have to knock again in order to pull timing in that range.

1.15 to 1.5g/rev is actually the -5 to 0psi region so it is knocking on cruise, which is most likely the CL to OL Delay timer being on 750(0.750 seconds)

-1.05 is at peak boost(again typical) and again -.070 above peak power as boost falls away

I have no idea when the ECU was last reset so I'll give it a week and grab another snap shot. If it knocks regularly then I obviously have a problem and will be off to Subaru as the car is under warranty. This is my first time with ECU tuning, couldn't find a pair of 45mm Webers to fit a Legacy, so I'm all ears.

Could that knock be going from cruise to WOT, hence the CL/OL switchover? I'm often sitting at 40-50ks in 3rd-4th(1800-2000 rpm) and then opening the throttle for a gap. Car doesn't get much of a chance to rev, unless I drive everywhere in second, and in daily driving doesn't see much more than 5000rpm before I have to slow down. It only get a good rev when I get a bit of open road out by the beach and no Mrs in the car as yes 3rd+7000=JDM speedo limit.

Yeah, even knock just reaching 0psi while cruising. Subaru wont do sh!t as the knock system is there to protect the engine and account for bad fuel but also maximise fuel economy.

If the knock goes away, most of the timing should get added back on its own, so it's usually better not to reset, especially if you haven't found the physical issue.

Matt's right...unless it's a very apparent and easy to spot problem, they'll be scratching their heads and wasting your time

Subaru Japan is very different to Subaru everywhere else though - so you might be in luck

For future reference, as Alexei pointed out, people should not be resetting their ecu if they see knock in the leaning view snapshot, ever.

Let the computer self learn if you think you've fixed a problem that was causing knock

Or better still, use romraider logger to log your tune

Thanks guys. I'll see what happens over the next week of driving and if the knock is still there.

I would drive the car sedately, and not put it in S# (assuming you have that in Japan) until you get the tune looked at.

Would it be safe to run a higher RON fuel in the car to help alleviate knock as well?
Cheers

if you have a bigger turbo does the 1.15 to 1.5g/rev change much between -5 to 0psi?

Yes the JDM models do have S#. Our Premium fuel here is 100-102 which I always use so no worries there but we have had a lot of snow this past winter which is unusual so it could be just a bad batch of fuel. It sometimes takes me 3 weeks to go through a tank as well which doesn't help. I"ll pull the intake/IC apart and give that a clean and check all my hoses and fittings. That way at least I'll be sure it's done before taking to it to Subaru.

After a couple of hundred Ks of mixed driving I've got a Learning View shot that looks much healthier.

No knock in the FLKC table but I'm still not 100% on the A/F Learning table. Can anyone lay it out for me?
