Logging results - iam down and boost won't nudge above 15?

As topic states

Been doing some logging will post up some logs shortly

No knock correction, timing is pretty spot on but Iam is down to 0.5

Af correction is minimal too so don't see any boost or vacuum leaks

One thing interesting was wastegate duty min and max was between 8 and 90% although given I'm running an external gate I don't know that this was an accurate reading

My concern is it won't budge above 15psi in any gear at any load at any rpm

My electronic boost controller (hks evc 6) is set to 17 and 20 psi so I don't know why this is

Any ideas greatly appreciated

Mick

Also forgot to mention car is a 2.0l auto, gt2871r, external gate, 1000cc injectors, tuned and previously used to run 19.5psi (tuned and made 196atw)

What is the peak boost on the EVC showing?

Is IM dropping after driving it for a while?

Tony peak boost (from the day of the tune) is 22.4 (between gear changes it spikes, and I don't know how to reset it)

Evc is showing the same as previously mentioned that's what prompted me to log

Im is constant at 0.5 from idle to redline

G'day Mick,

From what I know about ECU behaviour, everytime the ECU makes a rough correction, IAM value, the FLKC is reset. Therefore you not seeing any correction doesn't mean it's not being made.

I'd be going for short drives with Learning View screenshots to determine if the ECU is trying to advance timing or there is some FLKC.

I'm sure you've done all the obvious things like checking hoses etc.

Are there any DTC being generated as you'd expect to see something possibly.

Cheers.

I was literally just reading this thread, as Bruce said, when your car has dropped to 0.5 IAM it clears the flkc tables. With IAM of 0.5 you're no longer getting any knock so the flkc remains blank. If your IAM hadn't changed, the flkc wouldn't have reset and you would have seen your knock values there

Thanks guys

Yeah I did have a cel several weeks ago. It was a dead 02 sensor so I change it.

It's still coming up in the historical dtc table in learning view

I've done a learning view upload as well and this shows Iam of 0.5 and flknc of zero across various drives

Need to know why boost ain't climbing lol

hey mick, to reset the boost controller hold down the largest button for a few seconds and it resets.

After eliminating leaks as being the issue, the reset of the boost controller, is the next thing I'd be doing too.

Especially if you haven't made any changes to the map.

Thanks guys

Wil try that and see how it goes. That's why I asked phat for the booklet at our meet cos didn't get it off him when he installed it.

Anyone think of a reason why iam could be set to .5 and could this be causing issues.

Is it still 0.5 after you reset your ECU?
Only issue it will be causing from my understanding is that is has detected knock across a large range of rpm and loads so it has pulled timing across the board instead of just in set load/rpm ranges as per the finer learning knock correction.
By dropping to 0.5 your fine learning now doesn't have to adjust anything to avoid knock however you really want your IAM at 1.0 to get your maximum performance
(I am literally reading about all this now to try and be more knowledgable about my own learning view when tuning so I may very well be wrong and am happy to be corrected)

THanks imania

I know that bit sorry I worded my question incorrectly

I meant as in what could be causing my iam to drop to 0.5, noting no massive knock corrections or flkc

I know the ecu sometimes pulls timing if a cel is thrown so maye the bad 02 sensor has caused that. Apart from the 02 sensor I can't realty see any other error codes and thus the tune looks spot on to me.

Will reset the ecu and see what happens

Could there be 2 issues, 1 the boost issue the other a tuning issue

Have u checked the exhaust or cat for blockage or waste gates need adjusting for the boost issue which is up setting the ecu

Could well be gb

Earlier tonight I reset both the ecu (using learning view) and the boost controller.

Took it for a few pulls and max boost on ebc is 16.1

Target boost on logger maxes out at 14.5 and holds flat at that til redline

Iam is still 0.5.

Knock correction was minimal although iam knock correction was 1.06 (I'm pretty sure this is a positive adjustment to timing not negative)

Ive read in the past that ecu reset will default iam to 0.5 but a few pulls should bump it up to 1 within a few pulls if no knock is detected.

Maf scaling in learning view however shows -4.96 in the 5 to 10 g/s zone

I'm thinking it might be either a boost leak with vacuum hoses to te ebc

Or a vacuum leak in the intake potentially

Or wastegate is somehow defaulting to 14.5psi (which is the spring we used kn the tial gate) and not being bypassed by the ebc

Seems the timing issue is separate to this and may have related to bad knock in the past - I might need to use ecuflash to manually change the iam to 1 maybe??

Alot going on but I think in general te tune itself is good

Need ideas guys pls :)

Mick
