MSR Tuning - 2007 GT Auto

Had my dyno tune done at MSR today.

Existing mods were Invidia Downpipe and AVO TMIC and Panel air filter.

Results= 40% increase in peak torque and 50% power increase at lower revs.

Peak power is now 170kwatw which is only up 8kw prior to the tune.

It's pretty impressive to drive now especially at low to mid range revs where it really needed a lot more power.

I pulled out of a side street in the wet this afternoon and it pulled a massive 4 wheel powerslide, awesome! :D

Next planned Mods are a Centre & Y Pipe, bigger Turbo, inlet upgrade and another tune.

I Highly recommend MSR to anyone on this forum, he's very knowlegable, trustworthy and no Bull shit.

Hmm you have an extra 5kW at the wheel against mine with almost the same set up.

But otherwise yea, MSR is great.

Hey Peter, would you recommend the TMIC as an early mod? I just bought an 07 auto wagon like yours and want to do some mods without going overboard. I know you now have the headers, larger turbo and exhaust, but if i was to just do 2-3 mods would the 3 you started with be the best option, or would you go another way now that youve been through the process?

G'day Adam
I would just do an exhaust and tune to start off with.
MSR has got a manual GT up to 187kw atw with just an exhaust and tune.
It's nice to have a bigger intercooler but its not really needed until you go a bigger turbo.
I would go a mild steel X force exhaust if you want to keep costs down (stainless if you have a bigger budget).
Delete the aftermarket rear mufflers if you want to keep it quiet and save more money.
You're lucky that you're not too far from MSR to tune your GT.
Mick is definitely one of the best Subaru tuners in Oz and a lot cheaper than some of the well known brands.
Once you have tuned your GT, you'll be able to work out what comes next.

Nice.. youre a wealth of knowledge peter!! Thank you!
I like you want to avoid the drone of after market mufflers so I think ill keep the stock mufflers with the after market exhaust. Id love some sti mufflers but ive noticed theyre hard to find. Ive also noticed that dump pipes and inlets are pretty cheap. Are they worth doing now or are they more supporting mods for bigger builds?

Hey Peter,
do you know what power the GT auto's have at the wheels from the factory? Just approximately. Im just curious to know what sort of gain it is to get to 170kW.

Thanks Jerome!
So for people getting 170kW out of an exhaust and tune thats around a 30% increase based on 130kW from factory. Thats extremely impressive for a minimal outlay!! :D
Im sold.. whats the best way to buy my exhaust? Should i try and source it directly from manufacturers, try and find them on ebay etc, or is it just as easy to get the tuner to put it all on? Assuming the tuner does that sort of work of course.
