OpenECU

Postby jery » Fri Feb 24, 2012 4:30 pm

Hi guys,

I'm trying to collect some reviews and feedback on OpenECU if anyone has used it.

I have been quoted $750 for a re-tune by ESP racing in Canberra, promising a power increase of 30KW@wheels keeping car fully stock, and if I change full exhaust system I can gain further 15kw. He gave me a package price of $3000 for full X-force turbo back system, ECU flash, labour.

Meantime, I was wondering if I can get some other TBE apart from X-force ($2000), TCP ($1599), something a bit more cheaper.

Thanks in advance.

Nothing big mate especially to improve the power,

just Cosworth panel filter, Hi-Tech mufflers, GFB Respons I was thinking to get Phat DP done before tuning but I heard his DP touches the steering knuckle on left turns which can affect driving. Maybe I will just get a re-tune. :?

You are kidding yourself if you think a tune can give you 30kw ATW with those mods, and your tuner is having a laugh too.

Here is some food for thought.
An Xforce Stainless steel centre to mufflers system can be had for $650 right, so I'm guessing here but, $1100(or less) for full TBE from this same place you can buy it from for $650 for centre + mufflers.
So how does an $1100 exhaust which takes less than 2 hours to install ($200 labour) but let's be generous and say $300 labour, equate to $3000 including a tune?

By the sounds of things, steer clear, at least in terms of letting them give you 'power packages' which equates to 'ripping off naive people packages'. Source all the stuff yourself.
Also the PHAT DP problem is a minor issue and only some people seem to suffer from it? I think it has happened to me about once or twice, I'm not even sure if that is the problem anyway.

Yes I know, I couldn't believe the kw gain he said on a stock car, $3000 package is pretty dearer i know that, If I'm getting TBE I will source it myself. I will get them to install and tune it. But still chasing some pretty reasonable TBE. But ESP racing is pretty reputed tuners in Canberra.

I'm not commenting on their tuning skills, just their money grabbing skills.
Ask 3rbspec / SH30RB where to source the Xforce from if you want it for a really good price. Steer clear of anyone with the initial T for an Xforce system unless you want to waste $300+

Hahaa, well far better than MRT's same package which is $5K.

Have you got any other TBE brand suggestions?
