Was just curious, does anyone know of any books/sites/articles that can teach oneself about/"how to" tune?

there's a few threads on here about Tractrix cables or what ever they are & some program you can download and set it into "learning or practise" mode something like that. Just search for the Tractrix cable in this part of the forum, from memory Chaotic 2050 has mentioned something about it. <<<yes that's a very iffy slab of text, but I did my best to help

However with you being in a 6, and no real chances of performance gains after an exhaust (unless you planned on TT or SC), it's pointless and dangerous for you to try learn to tune yourself to save a few bucks. Same goes for anyone though.
Take it to someone who knows what to do, at least that way someone is liable if something blows up.

You can still log and learn with tatrix, but I wouldn't recommend getting in to tuning unless you are VERY serious about it. I myself have decided against even minor tuning / maintenance tuning. Let alone tuning the entire car myself.

i think, for me it seems pretty interesting and i would like to learn/gain knowledge about it to a certain depth.

its an option i have considered as being in the navy, i could get the chance to get posted for 6 months on a ship, save up a few $k and use it to work on the car
but for me, until tim has fully completed, finished R&D on the kit, i dont think it will be an option to soon

If it interests you to learn about something find some text books on the subject (especially useful for things where learning by tinkering might prove very costly ).
There are plenty of text books on engine technology that cover all parts of the engine, what their purpose is, how they work together, optimal operating conditions etc.
You may think you already know all about all the parts in an internal combustion engine and what they do (for all I know you do, in which case disregard) but some textbooks go into enormous detail, so you'll probably learn something anyway.

That would give you a good understanding of how things work.
Then when you know how something works it is much easier to understand how to make it better.
So when you are learning the art of tuning you actually understand the reasoning behind what you are doing fully, which means you are less likely to kill your engine.

Check out Amazon for many a book on engines and other car related technology.

Then just do it.

If you approach it from the perspective of gaining understanding, rather than trying to win the next dyno comp, I have little doubt your car will be SAFER than almost any that is tuned by a so called professional.

Why? Because you'll be constantly in touch with the health and tune of your engine and tweaking it to be right, rather than having blind faith in some guy you don't know who spent 5 minutes flashing a generic tune to your car and driving it until you get a CEL ... or worse.
