Hi auto owners.

Chaps with 5EATs that have been modded, see the vids below:

Disregard the flashing sport light in the first vid, it's due to another unrelated codes that havent been cleared:

link to thread in US forum: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/5eat-valve-body-upgrades-finally-164484.html

Hope this is not breaking any forum rules???
I will understand if admin delete the link.

Thought you should see how these modded autos change gear!

That's very cool.

And the sound of my N/A sucks balls compared to those turbo's. :-(

The forum member hexmod and IPT has been around for a while.
I haven't checked the latest news yet, but they involve sending the valve body over to be modded.

Unless they recently discovered how to do so by modding the TCU, it would be a costly exercise for us.

If you have an auto I guess you would be prepared to go through some trouble and expense to fix it's slow shifts.
Sometimes they are painfully slow!

The increase in power handling is also very desirable. :D

I have commenced discussions with climberd about a solution that should end up costing between 1300 & 1500 AUD delivered.
This involves him purchasing a new valvebody, modding it and sending it to me.
New valve bodies can allegedly be had for under $700 there.....then the mod work $499.

I will update in this thread how we go.

Hmm ... I believe it can be made much cheaper, if you perform a valve body swap.
IE, they send you a modded valve body, and you send your original back to them. It should be a fair bit cheaper than getting a brand new VB from USA.

There is a deposit involved that's refunded when they get the unmodded VB. But think only IPT caters for it and not Hexmod from memory.

IIRC someone here made some enquiries about it before but never went through with it.

I'm still not convinced that it's a fix for anything. The transmission in the auto takes a lot of of strain as it is, having fast and harder shifts can't be good for the transmission no matter which way you sell it

The valve body mod should be coupled with are stall converter upgrade to get the best results if your chasing more than 200 kw atw

I also think the box used on the EJ25T is are revised version of the one used on the EJ20T, so you might be able to transfer a little power before it starts slipping.

Well seeing as that's my goal over the next few months you should shoot for it too that way we can compare MY07 and MY08 :P

Rome they are the same car....... but what would be interesting to see is if the box on the 2.5t can hold 200kw or not

Slower shifts wear out the clutches faster according to climberd as the clutches are slipping to long with bigger power at higher rpms.
The clamping pressure is one of the primary target for his mods, he increases it at higher rpms which is where the power comes in with modded cars so there is less slippage.

He also suggests some bushings for the centre diff to stop it being destroyed by hard launches too.

The fella has used his own car as the guinea pig so I think he may know more than people that have not been drilling into and replacing VB parts.

It's the long term durability that may suffer, as it usually is with most mods....

PS 2.5L gearboxes are different internally (simpler, more streamlined to achieve the result)
