Horsepower Factory or AVO?

Postby sti323 » Sat Oct 15, 2011 9:52 am

Looking at getting my 07 Liberty GT tuned and was wondering who out of AVO and HP-Factory would be the better to use?

Thanks in advance

At the end of the day its really up to you, go speak to each tuner and see who you'll be most confident with and remember they all can have good & bad days..

In saying that also talk to Danny at Springy Motors. I was able to talk to him a bit during the dyno day the other week and most likely i'll be taking my car their for a re tune..

Also AVO no longer do tunes, AVO going to focus on their parts business. From memory a head mechanic & tuner from AVO opened up a new place called JJM Turboworld in Hallam.

I know this is old but yes you are correct, the guys that did the mech and tune work are now at JJM Turbo world in hallam, and due to them not being apart of AVO there tuning prices have come down, i was really impressed for all the work they did on my 98 WRX, and will be re-turning with my Spec B GT =).

PS there isnt alot on their website but just email them and they will get back to you.

Hope this helps but you possibly have chosen a place to get it done.

Nice one Sean. :)

Mine went to HPF today. AVO, (JJ), still couldn't get the code to tune it.
Either, either. Can't go wrong.

Very nice Ash!!! How'd it go?

I go to AVO tomorrow to get my exhaust sorted (long story), got the AVO CAI on already.

Guys, could you please post results of your tunes or at least a summary/opinion on the experience and whether you'd recommend them. Good to see a bit of variety with different workshop experiences. Thanks.

Not to bad Sean.
They were able to access the computer, but, they had trouble tuning first and second gear properly. There is something in the computer that won't let them tune too much torque in those two gears.
Still happy though.
I'll try and put something up on here. It mainly improved bottom end.

HorsePower Factory Tune

Unfortunately, it shows KPH and not RPM.

I wasn't too excited with my tune at AVO back in the day, I had my ST205 Celica GT-Four and they tuned it with an SMT6 piggyback.

Took it to another tuner and got a much better result - 20kW gain across the board, and safe too.
