I had my previous B4 tuned at HP-F and they did a fantastic job (dyno results below), totally transformed the car (mostly a result of getting rid of the detonation issues).
Now I have a GT-B I had it tuned at HP-F as well; I will post the dyno results ASAP.

Beware: HPF lock their tunes. If your intention was to get an open ECU tune look else where.

So the Mexican tuners are learning to lock their tunes……

I do appreciate their IP is being invested in the ROM, but at the end of the day you’re paying good money for it.

I pretty sure if Microsoft starting locking computers so that their owners could not load another OS, major court battles would start.

You can only wonder why their locking ECU’s

There's a difference between making tunes unable to be viewed and edited and locking ECUs.

Ecutek lock the ECU so that you can't even flash over it. Many tuners lock tunes to hide how little they've done ... sorry, I mean protect their IP. You can still flash over the locked tune with another though.

Companies should make it abundantly clear to customers if they are going to do either. It's still a low act to secretly leave someone with a tune that they've paid money for, but can't go and tweak themselves later.

Of course almost none do and many customers are ignorant of the fact.

If your tune is a true "custom" tune, then it's pretty much useless on another car anyway.

The issue is that it was never communicated, how do you expect to retain a loyal customer base when the expectation and trust of an open ECU tune is thrown out the window when you 'lock a tune' to hide and prevent adjustments for minimal changes. When you go there in the first instance to remove a 'locked ECU' in favour of a more flexible approach.

To say i was livid is an understatement. :angry2:

There's so much in this "tuning" section that doesn't belong. It's in the technical section of the forum, but there's bugger all technical discussion.

I propose we bring a little bit of technical information in and will start a new thread.
