Tuning 2007 Lib GT

Postby alphapudgen » Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:52 pm

Hey guys,

I have read through the posts in this tuning section and thought I might ask a few things.I currently have a HKS silent power cat back system attached to a PHAT dump pipe. I also have installed a k&n filter.

I am in the market to get the car re tuned as I don't want to up the turbo. I have emailed MRT, MS engineering, tunehouse and pulse racing.

I am yet to hear back from the last two but MRT has quoted me $2190 + $400-600 for a dyno run and MS has quoted me $900 for a re tune of all 3 SI maps and running it on the dyno! How can there be such a massive price difference between the two? Is it just because of the Ecutek licensing fee and MRT are crap from what I hear on here or is there more?

Also does anyone know a rough price Pulse racing charges or tunehouse as I have rang them and couldn't get through?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

because its mrt..... theres a recent thread here about them here with similar stories. in saying that they may do good work, im not sure as i havent gone ahead with anything from them personally. viewtopic.php?f=56&t=11178

i think pulse charge around 1400?

however, ive talked to michael south, and he seems to really know his stuff. ill be taking my car there right after mr tax cheque arrives :)

Thanks for reply!

Yeah I read MRT forum already some scary shit. I'm from Newy originally so I will be going to MS engineering I think! unless PULSE gets back to me and they are a lot better than MS. Maybe they can fit me in this weekend? :D

Tunehouse just quoted $1799 with dyno and a 1.5hr performance appraisal. I am unsure who to choose now. Will prob go MS for price ($900) and dyno.

ah ok, yeah im from newy too, hence keener for ms. i dont know if better pulse is better, from what ive heard both do really good tunes though id say pulse has done more work on libertys, so if you were willing to spend more to get it done sooner, thatd be up to you, i think you'll be happy with either of those two though. Would be good to get some liberty feedback from people who have been to ms who have libertys though.

so do you live in newy now? might have seen you driving around town

Yeah I will wait and here from PULSE racing then make my mind up. I'm liking the MS tune though and you don't get locked in to Ecutek.

Nah moved to Bathurst for work in February so prob haven't.

They quoted me that to. They are closer to where I live so I might go them. Plus they can get it in earlier and heard nothing but good reports from here.

Totally AGREE .....

my car was sent to a tuner ... to find out my ECU got LOCKED by Pulse (yes ... Pulse didn't tell me anything about my ecu will get lock if he tunes my car) ... so had to tow my car to Pulse unlocked my ECU then tow it back to my current tuner.

and i was really p off ... when Pulse charge $$$$ to unlock ECU ..... smoke was coming out from my head ! hahaha

so stay away from them ......... far far away ......

unless you want to take your stock car there and get 180 - 190kw atw just from a tune ... hahaha

fun of modding car !!

Hmmm I'm confused who to go with now. My car isn't stock so expecting a good tune.

A lot of people that I know have been to PULSE and got good results but you guys say they are bad!

I emailed MS and he said he hasn't done many 2.5L GT libs?
