Decreasing throttle delay when shifting auto from N to D

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that when you put your car from N to D, even if you put your foot on the accelerator, it doesn't start accelerating for a while?
Is this an ECU, TCU or physical/mechanical limitation?
Is it possible to be adjusted?

Haha no, just when I'm doing a three point turn, it's really sluggish.

Good point Clarence. I have noticed this too. Would it be an ecu thing or a transmission thing?
I used to do valet parking years ago moving many makes and models of cars. Mercedes Benz were the worst for this issue. They made Subaru auto gear changes look like F1 shifts.
Unfortunately the Subaru does it whenever you're in a hurry.

Was wondering the same thing - have an auto MY07 3.0R Spec B and just had it tuned by S&J this arvo.
Asked if it was possible to reduce this delay (noticeable on mine going from R to D) and the response was along the lines of the transmission being seperate to the ECU mapping that they touch so it's not really possible to directly change it. There may be minor flow-on effects from the tune that reduce this but that'd just be an lucky change.

Trans computer delay, to stop from damaging the internals of the trans.

One way or another it has to engage the gear. So there's got to be some sort of change over time so to speak.

Yes, and an extended delay is to lower the revs to protect the internals from hard selection.
