Jaycar digital fuel adjuster and ignition

Postby castek » Sat Jan 22, 2011 10:35 pm

Hey guys

Just wondering if anyone know if the jaycar digital fuel adjuster would work on our na 2.5 libs?

Pretty sure it should as it modifies the signal from the map sensor.

I'm thinking of biting the bullet an grabbing a kit

I'd be very interested to see this. Looks good.
Let us know how you go with it John.

Yeh and the other one I'll try is http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KC5442
For ignition.

Basically if I can't tune using the vag com cable because my Defs are not available then I'll work around that.

while yes they will work, a remap is far better (presuming the map on the 2.5i actually reads +ve pressure ) so I would find someone and spend the money having a definition file made rather than piggyback solutions

I'm liking the piggyback idea for simplicity of going back to stock without any problems.

And if I ever change my mind and swap the kit over to another car, then all I'd need is a new bracket and belt

The piggyback option is cheap enough to try out and see how it goes with the option of reflashing later down the track

nothing is easier to revert back to stock than a remap simply connect the laptop and then load the stock map.

With piggyback you have to cut/solder wires and do the same to revert to stock.

End of the day its your choice but trust me when I say piggyback is the harder option.

when you get your cable, read the rom with ecuflash and send it to me. I'll have a look at it and I can try make a definition file for you. If I'm successful just throw me a few $, if I can't nothing is lost at least I tried for you.

Sorry to butt in, Are you talking about re-mapping your stock 2.5i ecu or are you doing this post Turbo/Supercharge install?

I only ask as I am very keen on buying the cable (I have Ecuflash software, not that I know what to do with it) and trialling some changes.
I am trying to teach myself atm and basically curious if there's any great benefit gained from the 2.5i.

1) i would explore all options of re-flashing first.

2) for the price of getting one for fuel and one for ignition, just do it properly with a dedicated interceptor ECU or piggyback on another stand-alone ECU to control the fuel and ignition (Haltech PS-500 is a good option for this)

i will be trying to re-map it stock standard, just to see what can be done, before i bolt the charger on to the motor.

There should be some gains to be had, but i wouldnt imagine that there would be a lot, unlike the GT's
time will tell

1. This path will now be followed up, should have a cable tonight or atleast some time this week and we'll explore what happens then.

2. The price for both kits from Jaycar, including the hand controller is only $250 delivered.

My whole aim is trying to increase the power for N/A owners, without going over a $5k budget.
If we can organise this, then I am sure there will be a dedicated kit available not long after i finish it.
