Recomended tuner for newcastle??

Postby MattyBeloved » Fri Jan 14, 2011 3:23 am

Heyya guys
Recently bought my 99RX wagon
Loving it, but its certainly is lacking some balls after the years..

I am currently on my p's so i do plan on keeping my wagon N/A.
But i thought i'd pop it into a shop for some tuning.

Does anyone know of any shops in newcastle that would do the trick??

Cheers for the time in reading guys.

Personally I wouldn't take it to anyone one in Newcastle, go to Sydney. There's pulse racing, c&v performance, v&j rigoli, IS racing just for a few ideas.

Hi Mate,

Have you considered doing some other mods first? For the amount of money you'd spend on tuning it you'd be better off making it handle like it was on rails (sway bars, strut brace), exhaust and maybe a CAI?

If you are considering a tune then sorry I can't help but I just wanted to make sure you were aware that you won't see much of a change in performance for your money. Driveability will be improved but not the performance you are after.

Cheers,

Michael.

I have been researching this for the last few days myself as i am in similar boat as yourself, the general consensus seems to be http://www.pulseracing.com.au/ . I have heard about a bloke doing tunes in Edgeworth and apparently he is awesome but that brings to thought, if he is in Edgeworth how awesome can he be ? Personaly I wouldn't trust anyone around here

At least Pulse has tuned a heap of Libertys, which is valuable because each car has it's own unique strengths and weaknesses. The more Libertys tuned, the better the experience and insight.

I've been to a few 'highly recommended' tuners, but had little to no experience with the Liberty. Turned out pretty awful. Guess my advice is to ask a lot of questions and make sure the tuner has had a few Liberty customers.

Btw, I wouldn't recommend C&V. They just churn you out like an assembly line and take no care in a proper, custom tune for each customer.
