Who can reflash ecu

Postby chook » Thu Sep 30, 2010 7:56 pm

My 04 lib Gt auto now has the Sti 2.5 bottom end with Gt heads free flow mufflers haltech piggy back with custom tune with that done it reached 158kw atw on 12 psi which was great, but then today I had a CAI fitted, service, upper cylinder clean and re-tune and now it has 148kw atw! WTF!!!!! The tuner whom I won't mention said he thinks the factory ecu might have torque tags causing a drop in power and the power curve on the dyno sheet is up and down and all over the place, he says he can't access the factory ecu to check the codes or re-flash it so does anyone know where I can get this done in ACT or SYD? With a tuner us liberty owners can trust? Also my turbo is on the way out it's a IHI VF38 my tuner recommended a VF34 replacement does this sound right?

Cheers, chook

name and shame mate.......

where both your dyno runs carried out on the same dyno?, was the weather similar during both runs?

More importantly then the final numbers, is your car running safely? Do you log?

Same dyno and similar weather and no I don't log not down with technology not through lack of interest just never learnt how (wish I did)
The tuner said it's running safe but I have my doubts it feels slow has a much worse surge than before and even the transmission feels doughy

Pulse racing in sydney would be your best bet, also goggle Cobb access port for your car, and head towered the route of self logging.

Pulse has some what lost his touch lately...........still has the friendly smile, but the rest of his service is absolute rubbish....... price is $1200+, he is locking ECU's and the end result is not what you would expect from a person with so much experience.

I am not the only one with issues, there are a number of GT's which have returned to him many times for tune corrections, but they still experience the same issue.

They all do.

Do a search, follow the links and learn how to check for yourself.

I have found a few tuners in Melbourne are having difficulty with anything with DBW.
It has taken me 4 attempts to find the right guy with my Forester.
Is the problem DBW on the later model Liberty and Forester, or just inexperience/lack of knowledge with some tuners.
From what I have heard Pulse is highly regarded in Sydney.

DBW on the later models just takes times and from what I can tell, none of the tuners have bothered to put in the time. You are MUCH better off doing it yourself.

Then again, I offered to help anyone who wanted to fix it themselves ... and had zero takers.

(People with locked ECUs are obviously excused)

DBW is not the issue.......... you need to speak to more people to see the issue with Pulse is wide spread, there were are number of posts on rexnet which discussed issues with Pulse, but funnily enough they have all disappeared

I'm not referring to DBW being the problem....is it the ability to tune CANBUS which is on DBW cars ???
Then again chook drives an 04...maybe this doesnt apply to this thread.

So who do people recommend in Sydney given Pulse has lost his touch?
