I couldn't really find this mentioned anywhere on this thread, the ECUDatascan forum or on their specs sheet, but is there provision to hook up external sender units, so that oil pressure and temperature can be monitored?

Perhaps due to lack of mention that it is not possible, but I'm in denial because this unit looks great but just misses those two vital functions for me ;)

No there isn't. The only input it can take is via the OBD2 interface.

Hi all,
Sorry for the epic bump, but those of you who have an ECUDatascan can look forward to seeing some of the following on theirs once the next software release comes out :)

All gauges are configurable - you can still set the minimum and maximum alerts, as well as being able to recalibrate the gauge to show whatever range you like (Eg: Change a gauge to show 0-5000rpm instead of 0-8000 rpm, etc.).

How much does this all cost to do?
And I'm guessing you need a laptop as well? I'll be purchasing one soon for the police academy, so figured I might look in to the cable thing.

The ECUDatascan currently sells for $549. You don't need a laptop, the ECUDatascan is a standalone unit. Visit www.ecudatascan.com.au for more info :)

Sounds good...but at the same time with me buying a laptop soon, what options are there for that?

New Firmware

Postby GTB Liberty » Thu Aug 05, 2010 11:05 am

Just a heads up guys:

The latest version of ECUDatascan software is out. Fixes include:

* Analogue gauges
* Automatic OBD-II protocol detection (it's a bit slow at the moment though).
* Bug fixes with scroll box
* Tweaked main menu and setup menus
* Better icons for dashboards
* Aftermarket and Subaru Select I protocols (need specific cables)
* Works with iGo v8.3.4.142975

Available on the downloads page of the main website.

Enjoy!

An epic update, have it installed and it has brought a new level of enjoyment to the ECUdatscan. :D

I was just reading over the ECUDataScan PDF and it shows a music icon.
What does it play music through, will it link up to the Macintosh system or does it have it's own speaker on the device.

Crappy little built in speaker, but it does also have an FM transmitter.
I don't think it works that well in Libs though, as the antenna is far away in the back window.

I haven't used my FM radio since I bought the car :lol:
Do you have any photos of your unit Ric? Specifically where the cable runs through, does it look neat enough?
