They said that it doesn't appear that my car had any scheduled ECU upgrades. He mentioned that the 06/07 Tuned by STI's had an ECU update but that was it. Anybody else know if there is actually an update and the guy at Subaru might've missed?

So it looks like the only thing that will enable me to use LV is if I edit the hex codes to recognise the ECU ID. I'm assuming that this method will require me to re-write my ROM which i'm a little hesitant in doing.

Otherwise, is there anything in Logger that I can utilise that will give me similar feedback that you could get from LV?

Thanks for the help

The TBSTI has a different ECU completely. Use the ROM's I mentioned above, do a ROM compare in EcuFlash with both tunes open and you will see the changes made ;)
Flash in the later model ROM as it basically only changes a few tables same as altering the tune etc

Hey Matt,

I have compared A2WD002T and A2WD010T that I downloaded with the ROM that was read from my ECU. Romraider showing image as equal and no changes in tables.

Would these downloaded bin/hex files found on the net be safe to use? Unsure of where these ROMs have come from so I'm hesitant to flash these ROMs onto my ECU. I would be worried about bricking my ECU. I have read somewhere that 'Init code' is some sort of ECU identifier and if you change the value, that it will disable read/write.

Otherwise, where else can I get these ROMs in order to upgrade?

My apologies about the n00bness.

They are equal, I just checked my base tunes and did a full Hex compare between the stock ROM's. The difference is in some minor coding for emissions but an EcuFlash compare will not see the issue. For example, the A2ZJD00G, A2ZJD01G and A2ZJD02G are all compatible

You have a 32Bit 512Kb upgraded ROM going over an older ROM, it is not an issue :) Initcode is the ROM size and location to be flashed procedure plus the 10 digit Hex ID's show they have the same ECU architecture based on the firsst 6 numbers.

Do a Test Flash, then copy text and past up the results but I suspect it will have the top one as a NO, heaps of YES and maybe bottom 2 as a NO. The changes are the top one changing the first ECU ID and rest will be the other ECU ID's and the small amount of code for the throttle shut speed on gearshift table(which is not public hence why it does show up in ROM Compare)

It will work flawlessly but happy to check your work after the Test Flash

is the change in ECU ID as it is stored at 2004

Bottom 2 changes are the updates for the later model ROM

Can report that I've been able to successfully write to the newer ROM (A2WD002T)

Also been able to load Learning View now :D

I've only been able to get 10kms of driving in a short period of time and its showing no knock so far. However AF#1 is showing +14 so I'm suspecting some vacuum leak?

Will look at doing a lot more Kms before checking again

Thanks to everyone who had helped especially Matt for the trusty advice :D

hmm so I had a look under the engine bay for any hoses that may have popped off or anything out of the ordinary but couldn't seem to find anything.

here is the learning view after 60-70kms of driving, urban and extra urban.

Image

have also cleaned the MAF sensor with the CRC stuff to make sure it wasn't coming up with any error readings that could result in an incorrect reading in LV.

after resetting the ecu and going for a quick 5 minute pull, its still showing +14 under AF#1 and 0 under the other 3.

any suggestions guys? thanks in advanced

Good work with the rom! Good thing matt knows his stuff.

Check the vac hoses, especially the one from the bov going to intake manifold? That one is under the intercooler. The rest will all be visible from the top, might need to remove engine cover.

If that doesn't work use a bit of start ya bastard spray to see what area the leak is in, or get a boost leak test done

Yep popped the engine cover to have a look already. The only thing that I didn't do was take off the TMIC to double check any hoses underneath however I did try my best to duck and weave to search for hoses. Will look further into it this weekend otherwise I'll get a leak test done.

Also I doubt a HKS panel filter would affect the A/F learning? Would it be a good idea to swap back to stock filter to see what the result would be? Otherwise, would the front o2 sensor have something to do with it?

Remove the small 4mm vacuum hose off the end of the BOV at the BOV end while th engine is running, it should have a strong vacuum. If no vacuum, then it has come off at the back of the inlet manifold under the intercooler.
However, most of the 2L LGT tunes run a pretty high + figure due to the stock cam timing at idle. DR20T experimented with his idle by altering the exhaust retard at idle(800 rpm left 3 or 4 columns of Exhaust AVCS A) but if you want a simple fix, just find the values under 5.6g/rev and multiply them by 1.15 in EcuFlash

So it runs so high that it gives up its own ability/design to correct any variables in the atmosphere? That's interesting. ...?

Look at most of the 04 to 07 Forester and the 06/07 WRX, they run very rich under idle as well.

That's fair enough, but maxing-out-the-correction-rich isn't that a little too rich?
