Yeah :( . Still waiting to get E85 at all here in Townsville. It's a regional area, but pretty big (the size of Woolongong). United promised it years ago :angry2: . It's available all the way up the east coast, but stops short of Townsville. Smaller towns have it, but we don't yet....

One of our regular E85 United's just pulled it near home. No warning.

And not to mention we have 2 different blends of E85 across Melbourne....they can't even get their crap together. They import the ethanol to save money, it's not even locally made, and then charge a kidney and a half for it (was the same price as 98 the other day). "E85 is expensive to manufacture...." - United. riiiiighttt...idunbeliv.

Ah, ok cool. Good to know Alexei. We have a few Uniteds, so hopefully one will make the change one day.

Is that United? I always thought they at least consistent, unlike Caltex with their Flex fuel.

He must be talking about the original 105 octane united e85 and the new race blend (107 octane).

2 different blends.

Yep. They didn't bother changing all the stations to 107. Just some....

That's a good idea! Would the shelf life be ok though? I'm not sure where you're based, but humidity is high up here in North QLD (one of the main problems I think). Temperature probably not so much of an issue for us, since it's around the mid to high 20s all year (and at night a min of 10-15 in winter).

There's a performance shop here who sell it out of the drum for $3/L. That's just not viable for a daily. What would a drum cost roughly?

The main problem I'd have is when driving long distances where I can't get E85. Iirc Matt/KiDo can currently do a full flex tune on the stock injectors, but on bigger injectors it's a min of 20L E85 and 40L 98 and run in Intelligent.

I've been on 98 for a month, the extra economy is very nice :)

It's not too bad, lose a lot of the top end, but 1/2nd gears it still pulls like a train. Certainly not as bad as I was imagining after 16 months on purely e85

I'd love to get a dual fuel tune but I don't think my ECU is capable of storing the extra info, has anyone played with a piggy back unit just for separate fuel mapping or does this not work? I have a haltech interceptor that might do the job but I know nothing of computers and gigawatts and such.
Either that or commit to barrel or 98!

It is a very expensive excercise to replace and re-tune the entire ECU for just this - You can flash a new tune from a laptop in 5-10 minutes, but it's hardly flicking a switch :(

Every H6 ECU for the 03 to MY09 Liberty and even the Legacy now has full Flex Fuel
I also have Flex Fuel for some of the 3.6L H6 motors as well now(Tribeca/Outback/Liberty/Legacy)
Obviously already have Flex Fuel on the majority of 2.5L Gen4s/WRX/ForesterXT/STi
For those who are not on the Facebook page, there has also been another development... One of the Liberty Gen4 GT EJ20's is undergoing Flex Fuel development

I wasn't talking about switching the entire ECU just piggy backing another unit with separate fuel maps.

60 seconds.

That's including pulling out laptop, turning on, plugging in tactrix, loading tune, test flash, flash, reset ignition.

Just did it then. Back on E85. It's a little ridiculous as a street car now. Not looking forward to launching at the drags (poor drivetrain).

Alternatively there's a ECUtek thing you can buy (can't remember the name) stores multiple tunes, allows instant flashing of the ECU, without a laptop or risking a bricked ECU. Powered by the car's battery. Costs an arm and a leg though.

It's a ChipTorque EzyFlash Pro. A local LGT owner Tim has one( but from the previous owner). Now that it's unlocked from the horrible ECUTek tune, he has KiDo's tunes on there and can flash a variety of files.
