Hi Dave, how are you measuring knock? Also are you saying you are measuring ALL parameters simultaneously?

Cheers

I think he's commenting that there isn't any way to read knock.
I don't think there's any way to read ALL simultaneously.

I'm sure this will be added soon. Now that I'm back in town I have to chat to Daren about some of the things including the boost maximum and knock options. It all has to be done to suit the whole range of vehicles rather than say a single model so you have to stuff around and work out which is right . This probably doesn't make sense to most :P

Mark, 1.0.2.6 V2 has less bugs than 1.0.2.6 V1. V2 is purely a bugfix release, no other changes.

Here is the question I put to Darren & reply I got re knock.

Can anyone tell me if the ecudatascan will monitor either our dynamic timing modifier (DAM or IAM) and/or the dynamic knock correction (+/- kc) ?

Hi Dave,
They're ECU specific parameters, not part of the Subaru Select II protocol. However, using the protocol and known RAM addresses allows you to read out those extra parameters, this is how tools like RomRaider and ecuExplorer achieve this.

Right now there are no plans to read these extra parameters.

Thanks,
Daren

The key words are 'right now' I think you'll find. See if you look in romraiders logger without having it connected to your car you'll see that none of those functions are there by default. They are at addresses specific to that particular ECU type, when you start the logger with the ignition on the ECU model is detected and the extra parameters appear. Thats the hard part. You need a proper definition for each and every ECU i.e a PIA to maintain.

but if you build this into the software I would predict alot more sales of this item...I must have shown it to a 100 people at the Perth-WRX - Colin McRae cruise this past weekend. The interest is there and I reckon we push Darren for this when he returns.

The trouble with building it in is that then you are responsible for sorting issues for say when someone comes along and says it doesn't work on my car when you said it would etc etc plus you have to have an example of every vehicle and test it on them and so on as they are virtually all slightly different.
I think the better way is to possibly have an option that allows you or another software capable user the ability to add additional parameters to be logged that way its the end users responsibility and a huge load off the supplier. I hope that makes some sense

Ok, I get the hint. Risk free update! So I will trust that the procedure to update is also a good one. I will try it on the weekend.
