That's very cool, has is been a PITA to tune?

Would you say it's worth it...? It would be so much easier to just run an e85 tune and keep a cheap laptop for a reflash...

We do a lot of offroad and mountain driving(rarely in 3rd, let alone 4th or 5th) to get to the inlaws or to our property out of town where my toys are stored so having flex fuel convenience for the wife was a priority in case of emergency
That said, if it was someone else, I would buy a 2nd hand EzyFlash unit then have tunes for E85 and 98 plus 3 or 4 combinations of flex fuel as a backup. No laptop to be stolen or have a laptop battery go flat halfway through a reflash etc

EzyFlash software onto a PC, load the tune files onto the software and name/describe them
USB cord from PC to EzyFlash
Send the .ETB file to Ezyflash.
Done

EzyFlash is powered off the OBD2 port

I'd say you'd be able to get it along the way. Phillip island isn't very far from melbourne, but I guess it depends where youre coming from

Daniel won't even make it out of Sa. I just read his build thread - he's WOTing it non stop! :D

Haha you may laugh, but I'm bringing a jerry can for a 280km drive through the hills on Sunday... Seriously, this stuff is addictive... I was hoping I'd get over the low down pull and drive more sensibly but that hasn't happened yet :D

Not sure if someone has covered this already, but what would be the minimum cost to convert to E85?

1000 injectors ~$600 + installation
upgraded fuel pump - $400?
tune - ?

Assuming $1500+ incl parts, labour & tune?

Can do better than that, cost me:
$520 for ID1000 injectors (with plug and play adapters)
$140 for DW65C pump
+tune

Installed both myself, although the injectors weren't exactly fun...

you could get away with just tune + fuel pump.....and just limit boost and timing...that way you can max IDC at 99% but still have the safe factor in place...also maybe up the fuel pump duty cycle as well..

all depends on budget and goals with the car....

I'm going down this track over the next month. Now I live in Brisbane there is much more E85 available!

Easiest way I have found would be swapping the maps yourself if/when you need it. All depends in supply and where you are going.

For me, I only see a swap to 98 when we drive back to SA in November.

Does anyone have any thoughts or knowledge about going down this tuning track in Brissy? Coyote??

=)

Did Kaeb ever take you for a drive in his? Stock injectors were at 93% with 11:1 AFR's and had 185Kw@4800rpm
Upgraded fuel pump needs the duty increased regardless to stop pump burnt out

Missed out and didn't get a chance Matt...while considering his basically stock car besides the above parts mentioned....from the conversations and feedback he gave me the car went really hard down low to mid range while maintaining easy cold starts on e85, nothing but praise from kaeb(shane)

I drove the car prior to the tune as I installed TS boost solenoid he bought off me and toke it for a quick drive ...all i can say is the car was rubbish....from memory I think his car was running a stock tune anyway...

I had a Kido tune done today (pretty happy with the results) in the process Matt worked out that I had bigger injectors (660cc) that I was told were on the car when I bought it but was unsure if it was true and he seems to think that I could go for an e85 tune, seeing as all retunes are free and I live within 5Ks of two united stations with e85 I think I'd be stupid not to. Eagerly awaiting this next development and to see the results.

I drove from Coffs Harbour to north Brisbane(Morayfield) via Gold Coast last month. I even got all the way back to the southside of Brisbane for an E85 refill with fuel light on at Calamvale. I was not exactly light on the old right foot either ;)

Fuel tank ;)

Add this to a logcfg.txt, it is in fahrenheit though but works ;)
