80-120 in-gear acceleration is where it counts.
i.e how fast it is to do a quick overtaking maneuver from just pushing the loud pedal

Id be screwed then lol
As others have said, tune, turbo, get it breathing, exhaust - low 5's.
Sub 5's is more money
Sub 4's is a shitload of money
Sub 3's is a waste of money :( :(
But fun ;)

You have the perfect example of what a stock 07LGT Vs tuned LGT can do available ;) Sub 5's wont be an issue actually.

Hey Matt: whats your current tune strategy for this potential customer?
Any cool features to promote response and reliability?

check inlet and zorst boost and vac leaks
seafoam/upper engine cleaner before oilchange

These guys get a little too excited with spraying their petroleum everywhere. Have you done all the steps yourself benny? Measurable results?

Tuning my 07 sti (manual) 0-100?

Postby gtsti7 » Thu Oct 17, 2013 5:43 pm

Thanks guys, hey Matt, two questions. I'm not too clear, when you said I have a perfect example, what is my example? Do you mean my car before and after, or other forum members cars? Also, did you mean you think I can do sub 5's with the mods I'm going for so far, or do I need more mods for sub 5's? Thanks!

Hey mike,
I decided to try another 0-100 yesterday to double check for you. I used an app that used gps to accurately measure the speed and time.. best I could do was 5.0 seconds with brake boosting. So I would guess that with a tune and exhaust youd be looking at 5.3-5.5 maybe??

SS commodores do it in 5.5 seconds so youll be happy with it no doubt!!

Stock Auto with just a tune, 4.9 to 5.2 seconds, considering the Tactrix streams at 0.4s increments the initial 0kph had over 107kph 13 logging increments later. Factor in initial 0kph could of been in the 0.3s before the first log occurred for sub 5's. 15.4psi peak boost on pump fuel. Being retuned on E85 with stock injectors to see if a low 4 is possible

Agreed, quicker than a VF Redline SS

Are you sure a stock auto with tune can do 4.9-5.2 matt? Is that on a grippy drag strip or on the road? Thats a whole second quicker than stock just from a tune. If that was true it means ive wasted a lot of money to go no faster than just a tune.... because you were using tactrix was that to the speedos kph which is actually closer to 94-95kph?

The ECU speed is actually correct (give or take 1km/h or so), the adjustment happens via the BIU (from what Matt said I think...might be getting that wrong maybe it's the ECU) which then gives an adjusted (roughly 8.6% higher) reading on the speedometer for legal reasons.

Also per gear boost control really helps with with launches a lot, remember a stock tune can't get full boost in first and second gear, which is where 75% of 0-100 is spent.

Oh ok. My obdII bluetooth scanner shows a different ecu speed to the gps speed so it may be out at the ecu.

So do after market turbos not hit full boost in 1st and 2nd? I knew they took longer to hit boost in low gears but didnt realise it wasnt full boost.

Mine hits about 24psi in first and 27psi in second - 0.82 rear on a 2.0 litre

No I am saying the Lib GT ECU limits the boost from stock in first and second gear, thats why Matt is always talking about his per gear boost control. He can get past that subaru limitation with his tuning.

It was 0 to 107kph on the ECU, ECU to GPS varies based on tyre tread depth etc as well. Flat level road that the Sydney guys know well lol.

I have done SH9 Foresters with TD04's into the 4's

Catch up with forum member Kiwigene(he posted in the KiDo tunes thread tonight) and tell me how quick and torquey it is for stock ;)

Do a run in 1st gear and see what your peak boost is compared to 3rd if you have a graph mode

Even stock turbos struggle in 1st. VF46 is lucky to get 8psi in 2nd gear and that is at at high rpm.

Mick will confirm how quick your old turbo is on a Forester auto :)

I wouldn't worry too much Adam. Your car is tuned for mid range torque, driveability and longevity and not for 0-100 times. People who've modified daily driven cars will appreciate that statement.

Even so - with an MSR tune and VF52... you should be able to beat any lib that has just a tune in a 0-100 anyway...doesn't matter what/who's tune. The most a stock car gets from a tune is maybe 20kw+, while you have over 60kw+. That's 40kw diffence on a good day. One of you guys has a broken timer
