magnaflow 14832 on 2.5i

Postby Josh_07Liberty_2.5 » Thu Sep 23, 2010 2:24 pm

Hey guys,
i am looking at buying 2 magnaflow 14832 mufflers off ebay for $200 each.
i have been looking at different exhausts for a pretty long time now that will give me a little bit more of sound and these seam to be the best value for money.
I think the magnaflows look alright and are pretty good quality.i will be getting an exhaust shop to fit them for me (hangers, bend pipes, flanges etc) for around $200.
all up around $600 which i think thats a fair cost.

am i on the right track? what do you guys think?

heres the link for the mufflers:

Thanks

That looks alright. And $600 for a pair of mufflers is pretty good. MagnaFlow mufflers fitted at a local shop would probably cost around $700 - $800. Plus MagnaFlow is a pretty good brand with decent sound. Good luck! Plenty of pics and a sound clip after if you can!

give alan at Blitz custom exahausts a call, he is an auothrised magnaflow dealer

He actually told me not to bother with magnaflow on an NA 4 cylinder. Basically it over performs and can actually be quieter than some mild performance mufflers.

if you come to the cruise, you can hear my car. Its got a hotdog instead of the centre muffler and some straight through mild steel mufflers on the rear.

hey john
the reason why I am interested in the magnaflows is because of the stainless steal.I am worried about the rusting aspect of going mild steel as i was told by the guy at daaldar exhausts that they rust after 2-3years. i am hoping to come to the cruise but things may not turn out because i have got a lot on that month. would you be able to link me to a photo of what your mufflers look like?

Thanks for the help
Josh

I'll email a photo off my phone and attach it, its the only pic i have.

if you go on youtube and search videos of castek88 you'll see a vid from inside the car on the last cruise.

Yeh they do rust, but I've had mufflers last for a lot longer than that, with no holes or anything.

I got the exhaust done on my XW about 4 years ago now and its fine.

you dont see my mufflers from behind the car, they are tucked up nice and high, and painted black

Yes mild steel does rust, but how long do you intend to keep the car? I had a mild steel aftermarket muffler for over 6 years and no rust (it was sprayed with hi temp engine enamel). S/S will last longer like 10+ years but in the end it's more about initial cost and appearance.

unless you maintain stainless, it looks ugly after a few years.

i had a full stainless exhaust on my wrx and it was full of tea stain (looks like rust) and was dull gray
exhaust stainless is 409 grade, its not very good at staying shiny, but then its the only grade capable of taking the heat constantly.
