Exhaust modifications

3.0RB system

Postby dogsfoot » Fri Aug 13, 2010 8:41 pm

Hey just wondering if the 3.0 has the same exhaust as the GT.
Seems there are a lot of options for the GT but few for 3.0.

Whats the best way to get a nice note from the 3.0
Just mufflers?
Remove resonator?
Full catback ?
???????
Don`t want over the top noise and not fused about performance gains.
Just want some balls out the back.

set off mufflers would give a good noise gain.
personally i have a straight through system, no cats. replaced the headers to the cat back section.

I have ben through the whole excerise twice now.

Best thing for the 3.0R is to keep the pipe size exactly the same as oem. Go larger and it will sound sensational but you WILL LOOSE torque.

For sound and a bit of extra power. Take out the central resonator and replace with a decent hotdog and with a set of high flow mufflers.

If you're after some thing close to an oem performance type experience (think M car or AMG) I just fitted these and I'm extremely happy with them -

K2 Gear spec Neos. Not a cheap option but they give a nice refined note, are not at all boomy or intrusive when cruising (even my wife agrees!!) and give you some aural satisfaction when giving some it welly!

Would a 2.0 GT system be OK? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT
