Dump pipe for 07 GT auto

Postby kiwigene » Wed Feb 04, 2015 8:57 am

I'm considering a dump pipe upgrade and was wondering if anyone has one of these "Hurricane Headers" dump pipes, available from Best Mufflers.

https://www.bestmufflers.com/bshop/product_info.php?products_id=6309&osCsid=88c584a96607d2bdbd25e085ef64505f

$895 + $28 postage - but I can pick-up (or get them to install) since they are in Carlton, Sydney. I guess its an ok price since it already comes ceramic coated. Is this a another brand of dump pipe that HH ceramic coat and then resell?

Otherwise I'm considering the Invidia. http://www.prospeedracing.com.au/products/Invidia-Down-Pipe-%22AUSTRALIAN-SPEC%22-with-Hi-Flow-Cat-suit-Subaru-Liberty-Automatic.html

StreetToTrack can do it for $710 + $25 postage. But I'd still have the hassle of getting it ceramic coated somewhere and then installed. So in my mind they are close enough to equal on cost.

Am I missing another really obvious dump pipe option I should consider?

Opinions, suggestions, helpful tips?

Manaz has the Invidia DP ceramic coated. I have the Invidia DP but not ceramic coated. Obviously the CC will lower temperatures but so far I haven't had any issues with mine with no CC.

The only issue is the DP is a tight fit.

labour will cost between $250 to $330 depending on how the factory unit comes off

How does this compare to you guys that have had dump pipes installed? Is it reasonable?

Also if you plan on getting a wideband sensor, put the bung in when you get it installed and save a lot of trouble :)

Hmm seems a little high. My mechanic charged me about $180 I think that included him modifying and refitting the OEM heat shield.
