4-2 header/up pipe gasket

Postby gradg » Sun Feb 01, 2015 10:32 am

Hey guys. Im undure of the brand of the twin scroll headers that came on my car but the gasket between the 4 pipes from the headers into the 2 pipe up pipe to the turbo is cooked.

Im assuming these arent something most places would keep on shelf, so im wondering if any newcastle or central coast legends could help me out with somewhere to buy one ASAP (ive got to drive back out to work tomorrow)

I ended up finding a place that had the exhaust gasket sheeting.

I made my own, still had a slight leak so I loosened off the headers and made a second identical one, put them in and did it all up, she's purring like a kitty cat :D

Good work :)
I ordered a complete set of exhaust gaskets off ebay because I suspected I had an exhaust leak, but it wasn't in the headers/engine area, now I have a spare set - nice thing to have incase of issues like this (although obviously in a pinch you can always make it up with gasket paper, which I also have in the garage, because one can never have too much crap in the garage)

An exhaust gasket can be made with gasket paper too?

Graham what turbo do you have?

Not one that will last long, but it'll get you out of a jam. That said, I've never done it with headers, which are a lot hotter, only further down the exhaust.

Paper is for oil gaskets. Not exhaust. Ever.

I used the proper exhaust gasketing with two compressible sides either side of a tin middle layer. So i doubled up on that just because of the gap between the headers and up pipe.

The turbo is a VF46 Benny
