CES Racing Twin-dump pipes

Postby ferret89 » Fri Dec 19, 2014 12:17 pm

Has anyone had any experience with CES Racing and their twin-dump pipes? They sound awesome and I've heard that they do excellent work I'm just curious about why it is so good or why other manufacturers don't use a similar design.

no experience but i would say its just a cost thing. You can buy a normal single 3 inch SS dump for ~$400. Id also say the effects and problems are not really worth the extra cost on a normal car.

MRT says they are shit, but fluid dynamics is complicated - I can see why it might work and why it might be worse, but I can't see it ever being worth the hassle - most systems that have seperated wastegates do so simply because they need more flow that the stock WG can't provide.

You have missed my point.
The flat plate and bridge between the pipes can stop the IW of some turbos from opening enough.

I wasn't trying to contradict you, this is additionally. I should have been clearer when I said seperated wastegate I meant external wastegate.

Summary of the video
  • divorced pump pipes are a WOFTAM (not actively bad, but provide little benefit)
  • an internal plate/bridge can reduce lag by a detectable/useful amount
  • internal plates that don't match your turbo correctly are bad.
  • The stock dump is a giant bag of shit
