Full Exhaust - Question Time..

So got a quote sent back to me yesterday for Headers and Hi-flow Cat for my Liberty to complete the Cat-back system I already have.
Now I know I need to get the car tuned once the whole system is done.. Is it recommended to get the tune done as soon as possible ? I assume the new Cat would be the main worry ? :/
Also when swapping out the Cat is there anything I should be concerned about and double check ?
All help is appreciated :D

Exactly what are you expecting to get from headers and a high-flow cat on a 2.5i (with the NA engine)?

Exhaust note + slightly better gains from a Kido tune.

'No point doing mods like that on N/As bla bla'....
I'm aware what car I'm driving, I dont want a turbo.
Sorry, just in before the rest of the comments..

I'm not saying there's no point. :)

You're clearly aware then of the limited gains that are possible in terms of power. Of course, power's not everything (and I do appreciate the linear nature of an NA power curve, my previous car was a narrow angle V6 that put out 150kW/270Nm stock, tunes and exhaust work could take it to about 165kW/300Nm at best).

To answer your original question - I'd be surprised if you could do much damage as such with the headers and cat, the ECU will learn a bit about the different system and adjust partially for it, but the best gains will come out of getting that tune done pretty quickly afterwards. Kido tunes aren't at all expensive though, so you shouldn't need to wait long to get the tune done (and you can also work with Matt to do the tune remotely).

If it were me, I'd stick with the cat back as is for now, and spend that dough on suspension upgrades. When Matt comes to your town, get a Kido tune and talk to him about the exhaust options then and the pros/cons. Drive the car for a while with the tune. If you want more, at least Matt has your base and initial first tune on file and if you decide to get headers and a hiflow cat, he can remotely send you a revised tune to suit.

Thanks.
That comment wasn't aimed at you, I just know how a lot of people go on about it.

Cheers for that answer. That was my main concern, driving around for a while without an immediately tune. I've spoken to Matt a while back about the tune cost and what to expect. He said the best gains he got from an N/A was with headers.

My aim is to do Coilovers/sway bar and front lip first.. then i'll start chatting with Kido to do a timeline for a tune so I can organise the headers/cat beforehand.

Good thinking. If you can coincide the headers with Matts arrival it will limit the amount of potential issues without the tune.

Sweet.
Yea this might not happen until the very end of the year, maybe even early next year. But I like to gather as much info as possible to make it easier.
