That sounds killer Jay. (apart from the scraping noise over the speed humps. :P ) Reminds me of a porsche.

Im thinking of a cat back system now.

Way to show off and put down what someone else just got  classy

Far from showing off. If he likes the sound better he can buy these in a couple of months.
I didn’t hear what his sounded like either, from reading what he posted it sounds like he doesn’t like them.

Mine seems to sound good when getting right up it which is promising, low down is a little boring. Anyways, been raining so haven't been able to do a recording sorry. I'll leave judgement til you guys get to hear it. Just hope the camera mount doesn't come off the bumper.

And I'm far from offended by the hi-tech post. I wanted the hi-tech but the savings swayed me

Pretty similar to the hi techs. Maybe a little bit more subtle?
The tcp tips look nicer..

They look better than I remember!

The TCPs are probably the quietest out of X force, Magnaflow and Hi techs, by like 10%

Scott, any chance of clearer/less windy sound in the vids?

From experience, 2.5'' Y pipes cause drone, not the mufflers, using the exact same mufflers with a 3'' turbo back system but changing it to 2.25'' after the Y pipe cut out most of the drone,
That's my experience from 100's of turbo exhaust.
If it was just for some noise, just change the rear mufflers then there won't be a problem.

Whats that like with flow?

So your saying going a full 3" system to the Y piece and then 2.25" Y piece to the mufflers (regardless of type) will make the auto's sound a bit more favorable?

Flow has been unnoticeable with dyno tuning but my experience is with turbo cars, and the mufflers are hand made and packed, a good muffler helps as well.

+1 to a good glass pack hand made muffler.

I don't have any drone on a 3" tbe with fairly restricted mufflers and a mid straight through oval muffler. Open up the flow in the mufflers and you'll get a slight drone, not bad, not really drone either, if that makes sense. Part of that is because they're so noisy outside, it's going to be audible inside. Without that middle muffler though - even with quieter muffs - you will know what drone is. Think vibrations. Picture your dash trying to trumpet call the Gates of Hell open. Winding down windows to try and hear if your exhaust is even making any noise. Bloody hell. And that's not even as bad as a wagon will get!!

Digging this ancient post up from the dead...

I have the TCP 3" turbo back, and am wanting to quieten it right up.
A heap of dynamat in the wagons boot made bugger all difference.

In thinking of getting the biggest middle muffler/resonator that will fit. Is that likely to be enough?
Or reading above, perhaps I should see if I can get the Y section reduced to 2.25"?
Or... Should I look at different rear mufflers?

Kim :)

just get a big middle muffler put in. but make sure they put flanges at either end of the pipe they cut out so you can go back to a straight through section if you wanted to.

Did you notice much of a difference to exhaust noise doing that in yours? (just in the spare tyre hatch area?)
