HKS dump pipe and tune

Postby Tug » Mon Aug 12, 2013 7:18 pm

Hey, Just recently bought a Gen 5 GT Liberty I have a HKS dump pipe coming soon from G88 and a custom air intake I will get these installed as soon as I get them. I was wondering if anyone know a good tune to get in W.A I know there is a Ecutek tune and a Verso tune just not sure what the better tune or if there are any others around. Also does anyone know what sort of gains I will get out of these parts with a tune. Help would be greatly appreciated :)

I know a while back he was looking for a guinea pig to develop one but never heard any more about it.

Your dump gains may be better zorst sound, slightly better response and perhaps a little more power.
Hopefully the tune will provide better than stock engine protection management (if any issues present in the stock tune), a little more power and perhaps the option of DBW and auto box response tuned to your liking.

+1 to what Benny said

So far I know of at least 3 GenVs that have had the HKS dump pipe installed..... satogixxer, rrussh and myself.

Henry (rrussh) and I also had a retune done with Matt (Kido Tuning) post dump pipe installed, and both pretty happy with the results!

Make sure you get your car dyno tuned immediately after the custom air intake is fitted. I've been told (by KiDo & MSR) you risk engine damage if you don't.

Sweet cheers for the response :) I plan to get it all fitted up and tuned at the same time.
Also does anyone know about what catback exhaust to get ? I want it to make the least
Drone since I have an auto. Also what price I would be looking at ?

Stick with stock catback if you want to minimise drone

If you fit the dump pipe only, it is fine/safe for current factory tune

Originally I was going to do that but was told that the stock catback is restrictive.
I guess I'll have to wait and see if I was to eventually get a catback would I need a tune ?

VF54 is not a huge turbo so cat back is not a huge restriction on top end power. The dump pipe is biggest choke point.

Full turbo back or intake mods need a tune. mongmong has the same intake on his, check his results once it is completed :)

Ok so I ended up getting the Fujitsibo exhaust, the next question I had is the only section I don't have is between the DP and the Center, y pipe and mufflers..... I think it's called the front pipe ? Anyway is it worth in replacing this aswell ?
