Hi guys,

I'm looking at getting a set of mufflers to complete my TBE. Key requirement is I want a subtle increase in volume but can't be too loud as I'll have kiddies in the car and I also live in an area where Melbourne's most notorious road police officer operates. I've listened to almost every video clip but I find it hard to tell in a video if it's loud or not and "loudness" is very subjective.

Brand new:
TCP quads - $650 + del
Ultrex single 4" tips - $310 + del
X-Force - ?? I'm guessing similar to Ultrex
Magnaflow - ??
Invidia - ??

Second Hand
Phat quads - rare and usually expensive
STI quads / MY08 WRX - stock so wont increase volume and can be pricey
Hi-tech - rare

I leaning slightly towards the quad tip design but I'd be paying a premium esp if it's a brand new set of TCPs. Ultrex are fantastic value but they're likely to be louder and i'm not completely sold on the 4" tip design.

Thanks.

Invidia is another system to look into. Nothing but excellent reviews about them...

You could also look at Hi-Tech mufflers... theyre about $800 for a pair of quad tips and theyre not as loud as some of the others. However i dont think youll get any after market mufflers that will be quiet enough for your needs. You could try and get STi quads... theyre marginally louder than stock GTB mufflers aparently.

Invidia is out of my price range but I've added it to the OP for future reference. The HiTech ones look ok and a few have been sold on this forum so i'll keep an eye out for them. The boss just told me that she could hear the car coming when she was outside waiting for me to pick her up so I might need to rethink my options. I can barely hear the exhaust from the cabin so I assumed it was fairly quiet on the outside.
