2.5 NA exhaust info

Hey guys, just had my new exhaust fitted. It was:

UEL headers, hi flow cat, 2.5" exhaust with a resonator and twin hi flow mufflers at the back, and omg I'm in love! It's loud, boxer rumble, and has made incredible gains in all areas of the car! Better bottom end torque and power prior to 3000rpm, stronger 3rd-5th gear power pull, more responsiveness throttle when taking off from a standstill, improved economy!

This seemed to be the perfect setup to
Unlessh the beast!

I've noticed a few people, myself also, wondering about the perks of putting UEL Headers on an n/a. Looks like most are saying adding them just for the sound gains is worth it. Wish I had the money at the time to do a full system like yourself, I only did a CatBack.

Good to see you loving it :) Can't go past the boxer rumble hey.

The gains are more then just sound but apart from a v8 the boxer rumble in the next best thing! ;) I got mine done at Liverpool exhaust. Apart from headers and the rear mufflers

Two questions
1. Which headers did you end up getting?
2. Sound clip pretty please?

Sounds like a killer system mate. So there is a noticeable power difference?

I'm interested in this as well but wondering, does doing the whole exhaust require remapping?
If so, I might just be sh!t outta luck :mda:

Exhaust doesn't require a new tune. I am extremely, highly doubtful you would see any performance gains on an N/A 4. They would be marginal at best. Don't larger exhaust make you loose power in the lower RPM's and greater in the higher RPM's? I would have thought a 2.5" exhaust on a 2.5Lt car was a little overkill? Also, UEL won't give you better performance, hence why people stick the EL's on. They do sound good though :)

With my catback system and a good air filter there was a noticeable difference. I could imagine with headers (more so tuned EL) there would be a gain without turn.

I think you will find the OEM filters, filter better than an after market ones and have more than enough flow for our engines. Are you sure it didn't just feel faster because you had spent money on it?

I didn't say it was faster. Throttle seemed more responsive and acceleration had improved. Im not talking bit gains, just the driveability has improved, especially combined with my clutch replacement.

I also have a 2.5 inch exhaust system on my NA 2.5 and I thought it was faster (repsoiveness and everything) at first but after awhile I notice its too big for the 2.5 NA and I felt the lost of back pressure in comparison to my friends 2.5 when I drove his (he had a 2.25 system) im looking at changing it over to 2.25 when I can be stuffed

Mines a 2.5 center then goes into a 2.25 y-pipe out to the mufflers.

i just put a xforce cat back 3 inch to y pipe then 2.5inch with twin muffler's with 4'' tips and it sounds nothing like a Subaru i'm a little disappointed with the sound as for power i don't think there is any gain

been looking at the uel header now and a aftermarket cat but i don't really want to buy them if a cant get that nice rumble

any tips

Lol 3"! You would loose performance if anything! I would suggest getting a smaller pipe and you will need UEL headers for it to sound like a turbo boxer 4.

3 is way to big for an n/a. And for true subaru sound you need the uel headers. Putting a cat back only makes it louder and gives a nicer note then stock.
